The role of Café Lead at Urban Air is a hands-on, fast-paced position primarily responsible for overseeing the shift operations in the Urban Air Café. This role requires managing team members, ensuring smooth kitchen and service area functions, and maintaining high standards for food preparation and customer service. The Café Lead plays a critical role in training staff, managing inventory, and upholding the café's cleanliness and operational standards. This position demands a strong work ethic, leadership skills, and the ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining friendly interactions with customers and colleagues alike. The Café Lead must be proactive in solving problems, aligning the team with the company culture, and consistently driving excellent guest experiences. Working hours include varied shifts, and flexibility beyond scheduled times may be necessary depending on business needs. The ideal candidate will have prior food and beverage experience, leadership capabilities, and a valid food handling certification or willingness to obtain one promptly. Job Qualifications

  • minimum of high school diploma or equivalent required, some college preferred
  • minimum of six months to one year of prior food and beverage experience (Quick Service and/or restaurant experience)
  • one year of leadership experience preferred
  • must have a current ServSafe or similar food handling certification, or be willing to get one within the first 30 days of employment

Job Duties

  • support the proper execution of all processes, systems, and standards
  • ensure all deliveries are received correctly and logged in the event the Café Manager is not present at the time of delivery
  • maintain storage and rotation to minimize wastage
  • manage the Café Team, ensuring they always work to the expected standards
  • adhere to scheduled shifts and have the willingness to stay beyond when business or circumstances dictate
  • train Café Team in preparing the full menu and the front of house staff in preparing drinks and ready-to-eat foods to the consistently high standard required
  • set a high standard and good example for the Café Team regarding punctuality, attendance, and attitude
  • set a high standard and good example for the Café Team regarding cleanliness and hygiene, including a regular deep clean schedule
  • maintain well-organized and easy-to-access Café and storage areas
  • handle guest concerns regarding the Café in absence of the Café Manager
  • participate in regular staff meetings and training as and when required
