Job Description

Urban Air Augusta, a branch of this renowned network, seeks a dedicated and dynamic Café Lead to join their team. This position offers full-time, hands-on employment with a salary commensurate with experience and industry standards. The Café Lead role is integral in ensuring the smooth operation of the Urban Air Café during shifts by directly supervising and supporting team members while maintaining high standards of food preparation, customer service, and overall cleanliness.

As a Café Lead, you will play a key role in managing daily shift responsibilities ranging from food preparation and service to team coordination and customer interaction. This role demands a fast-paced, proactive approach combined with a friendly and professional attitude toward guests and team colleagues. A major part of the job involves being present in the kitchen and service areas, guiding team members through menu preparation, drink making, and food service to maintain consistent quality.

In addition to operational duties, the Café Lead supports inventory management tasks such as accurately receiving deliveries and overseeing stock storage and rotation to minimize waste. Leadership qualities are essential, as you will be mentoring the café team by setting examples related to punctuality, hygiene standards, and customer service excellence. The position requires participating actively in team meetings and ongoing training to continuously enhance team performance and guest satisfaction.

Candidates for the Café Lead role must possess a strong willingness to take initiative and demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively handle guest concerns independently when the Café Manager is unavailable. Job Qualifications

  • Minimum of High School Diploma or equivalent required, some College preferred
  • Minimum of six (6) months to one (1) year of prior food and beverage experience (Quick Service and/or restaurant experience)
  • One (1) year of leadership experience preferred
  • Must have a current ServSafe or similar food handling certification, or be willing to get one within the first 30 days of employment

Job Duties

  • Support the proper execution of all processes, systems, and standards
  • Ensure all deliveries are received correctly and logged in the event the Café Manager is not present at the time of delivery
  • Maintain storage, and rotation to minimize wastage
  • Manage the Café Team, ensuring they always work to the expected standards
  • Adhere to scheduled shifts and have the willingness to stay beyond when business or circumstances dictate
  • Train Café Team in preparing the full menu and the front of house staff in preparing drinks and ready-to-eat foods to the consistently high standard required
  • Set a high standard and good example for the Café Team regarding punctuality, attendance, and attitude
  • ensure these standards are maintained at all times
  • Set a high standard and good example for the Café Team regarding cleanliness and hygiene, including a regular deep clean schedule
  • Maintain well-organized and easy-to-access Café and storage areas
  • Handle guest concerns regarding the Café in absence of the Café Manager
  • Participate in regular staff meetings and training as and when required
