Job Description

Tatte is a renowned artisanal bakery and cafe brand known for its dedication to exceptional made-from-scratch food and genuine hospitality. As a rapidly growing company with a strong presence in the greater DC area, Tatte prioritizes quality, customer satisfaction, and fostering a vibrant team culture. The company’s focus on offering a unique culinary experience with fresh, thoughtfully prepared dishes has established it as a local favorite and a respected name in the food service industry. At Tatte, the kitchen is the heart of the operation, and the success of each location relies heavily on passionate and skilled leadership in culinary arts.

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Chef to lead kitchen operations at one of our cafes. This critical role calls for an individual with the ability to inspire, engage, and manage a dynamic kitchen team comprising cooks, prep cooks, and dishwashers - potentially up to 25 staff members. The Chef will oversee all aspects of kitchen management including staff training, production, quality control, inventory, and maintenance of health and safety standards. This is an opportunity to work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment where creativity and consistency are key.

The Executive Chef at Tatte plays a pivotal role in executing our seasonal menus by adhering to standardized recipes, portion guidelines, and presentation standards while ensuring high quality through diligent tasting and evaluation. The position requires hands-on management, effective communication, and fostering a positive and professional workplace where employees are motivated to perform at their best. Key responsibilities include supervising food preparation, managing kitchen safety protocols, maintaining equipment, monitoring inventory within budgetary guidelines, and actively participating in departmental meetings and staff development programs.

Tatte values culinary passion and excellence, with strong emphasis on exceeding guest expectations and delivering superior dining experiences. Candidates should have a solid foundation in culinary management, complemented by a deep appreciation for scratch-made food and hospitality. This role demands flexibility in scheduling, with shifts covering days, nights, weekends, and holidays, along with the physical stamina to handle long hours and the physical demands of a busy kitchen.

The position offers competitive salaries typically ranging between $76,000 and $96,000 depending on experience, as well as a robust benefits package that supports employee well-being and growth. Joining Tatte means becoming part of a company committed to innovation, quality, and the professional development of its team members. We invite culinary professionals eager to lead and grow with us to apply and help shape the future of our kitchens.
