Job Description
This opportunity is with a mission-driven hospitality group based in Philadelphia, PA, that is deeply committed to redefining everyday food service through exceptional coffee, innovative culinary experiences, and genuine community connections. The company operates one of the area's most vibrant cafés, where the emphasis is not only on delivering high-quality products but also on creating a positive, people-first culture that values team members as much as guests. Known for their passionate approach to hospitality, this group prides itself on fostering an inclusive environment where creativity, collaboration, and continuous professional development are prioritized. Their commitment extends beyond just coffee; they view their cafés as community hubs where relationships between staff and customers thrive, creating an atmosphere where everyone feels welcome and appreciated.
The role of the Café General Manager is pivotal to the success of the establishment. The manager will lead the daily operations of a single-store unit, ensuring that every aspect of the café—from staff management to financial performance—runs smoothly and efficiently. With a competitive salary range between $70,000 and $85,000, the position includes 15 days of paid annual leave plus company-recognized holidays and sick time, comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance plans with several options to choose from, commuter benefits, parental leave, exclusive access to free beverages like coffee and matcha, and a supportive work environment rich in team outings and professional growth opportunities.
As the café's leader, the General Manager will be responsible for cultivating a motivated and high-performing team by recruiting, training, and developing staff. This role demands strong leadership skills and the ability to build a positive working environment where employees feel valued and encouraged to grow. The manager will oversee critical operational tasks such as creating and managing staff schedules, coordinating payroll, inventory control including vendor relations and ordering, and maintaining compliance with health and safety standards. Equally important is ensuring that the quality and consistency of beverages and food meet the highest standards, reflecting the brand’s dedication to product excellence. The General Manager will handle guest interactions, addressing any concerns with empathy and professionalism, and actively seeking feedback to continually enhance the customer experience.
Financial stewardship is another key aspect of this role. Monitoring the café's financial performance, driving sales growth, and championing creative initiatives to attract and retain customers will be essential duties. The manager will also foster strong ties within the local community, reinforcing the café’s role as a neighborhood pillar. This opportunity is ideal for a seasoned hospitality leader who brings at least four years of experience managing single-store operations, preferably with a background in specialty coffee or café environments. If you have a passion for customer service, product quality, and community involvement, and you're ready to lead a renowned café that combines business excellence with a heart-centered approach, this role offers a compelling career path with meaningful impact.
