The Clearwater Café, located within the Bass Pro Shops Corporate Headquarters in Springfield, Missouri, is a key dining facility serving employees. This cafeteria offers a variety of freshly prepared meals throughout the day, focusing on quality, safety, and excellent customer service. The Cafeteria Cook role is essential to the successful operation of the Clearwater Café. This position involves preparing and cooking food items in multiple stations including the grill, deli sandwiches counter, pizza and pasta station, and salad bar. The individual in this role must follow detailed recipes and maintain high standards of food safety and sanitation as guided by FDA and local regulations.
This is a full-time position requiring someone with flexibility, the ability to multitask, and dedication to providing outstanding service. The Cafeteria Cook will prepare food for breakfast and lunch services and serve customers during lunch. Responsibilities also include cutting and cleaning fruits and vegetables for recipes and the salad bar, following daily prep lists and Chef instructions, and keeping the kitchen workspace clean and organized. The role demands strong teamwork, communication, and the ability to work efficiently under pressure. Physical requirements are significant, as the position involves regular walking, standing, lifting up to 25 pounds, bending, and squatting. This role reports directly to the supervisor and operates under established policies and procedures with limited independent judgment.

Job Requirements

- 2+ years of cooking experience preferably in a restaurant or cafeteria setting

Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2+ years of cooking experience preferably in a restaurant or cafeteria setting
- excellent verbal communication skills
- basic understanding of or ability to learn sanitation and regulations for workplace safety
- basic understanding of or ability to learn food handling techniques, preparation, and cooking procedures
- ability to work quickly and efficiently

Job Duties
- Prepares and cooks various items according to the weekly menu
- cleans, cuts, and prepares fruits and vegetables to be used in recipes and for the salad bar
- completes tasks outlined by daily prep list and the Chef’s instructions
- apportions and serves food to customers (employees and guests) in a safe manner
- ensures the cleanliness and organization of equipment and work area by routinely cleaning and inspecting throughout shift
- complies with FDA and local food safety guidelines
- performs all other duties as assigned
