The role of Café Team Member is essential in supporting the daily operations of the café under the direct supervision of the Café Manager. This position focuses on delivering excellent customer service while adhering strictly to health codes, safety, and fire policies. Not only is the team member responsible for assisting with food service operations, but they also play an integral role in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the café. This includes setting up the café each morning by properly displaying food, arranging furniture, and stocking supplies and condiments.
In this role, you will be expected to handle food with care, employing the proper tools, gloves, and serving pieces to ensure compliance with health regulations. A Food Handlers license is required, highlighting the importance of food safety knowledge. Being experienced as a Barista in crafting specialty hot and cold coffee and tea beverages is also crucial. Attention to detail and a passion for customer satisfaction will guide your performance as you maintain interior and exterior cleanliness of the café, manage the Point of Sale system including cash handling, and keep accurate daily cash drawer records.
Collaboration and communication are key, as you will work closely with vendors on food placement and sales techniques, coordinate with facility and maintenance teams regarding stock delivery and cleanliness, and contribute suggestions for seasonal food lineups and merchandise changes. You will also be responsible for inventory management by organizing stockrooms and ensuring all café and retail items are well maintained and orderly.
The position demands physical stamina with the ability to stand and walk for extended hours, handle lifting of up to 50 pounds, and occasionally work in varying environmental conditions, including heat, cold, and humid areas. Flexibility to work various shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays is required. Job Requirements
- Excellent customer service
- Ability to stand for up to 8 hours each day
- Ability to work flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays

- Ability to use hands to handle or feel and reach with hands and arms
- Ability to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb stairs, or crawl

Job Qualifications
- Food Handlers license
- Experience as a Barista making specialty coffee and tea drinks
- Previous experience in café or restaurant settings preferred
- Experience handling cash registers and cash handling
- Ability to follow health laws and company policies related to food handling
- Strong customer service skills
- Detail oriented and organized
- Ability to work as part of a team and independently with minimum supervision
Job Duties
- Provide excellent customer service in the café service team
- Follow all health codes, safety, and fire policies
- Assist in proper food handling using correct tools, gloves, and serving pieces
- Prepare specialty hot and cold coffee and tea drinks as a Barista
- Open the café each morning by setting up furniture, displaying food, and filling condiments, utensils, and napkins
- Maintain cleanliness by wiping down tables, counters, and display units throughout the day
- Operate the computer Point of Sale system including cash handling and maintain accurate cash drawer counts
- Maintain café seating areas by organizing tables and chairs and wiping furniture after guest use
- Keep interior of cabinets, refrigerator, and stockrooms clean and organized
- Collaborate with vendors on food placement and selling techniques
- Communicate and coordinate with facilities and maintenance teams regarding stocking and cleanliness
- Make suggestions for food lineups and seasonal holiday purchasing
- Ensure adherence to the daily checklist and health policy compliance
- Perform all other duties as assigned
