Job Description

Abundant Church is a vibrant faith-based community organization dedicated to fostering spiritual growth and building meaningful relationships among its members and the broader community. Situated within the spiritual and communal heart of the church's campus, the cafe serves as not just a place for refreshments but a welcoming space where congregation members and visitors can come together, connect, and enjoy quality beverages and light snacks. The organization is committed to embodying its core values and vision throughout all its ministries, including its hospitality services. They seek individuals who are not only skilled in their craft but also deeply aligned with the church's mission to build the Kingdom of God by ministering to the people and supporting the church's cultural and spiritual goals.

The position of Cafe Barista at Abundant Church is an integral role that combines customer service, beverage preparation, and community engagement. This part-time role, averaging 10 to 12 hours per week, primarily on Sundays, is designed for a dedicated and personable individual who enjoys working in a team environment and serving others. The Barista is responsible for preparing and serving a variety of beverages including coffee, tea, and specialty drinks while ensuring a clean and welcoming atmosphere in the cafe. Beyond technical beverage skills, the Barista represents the church's values by fostering positive connections with customers and volunteers alike. This role offers an opportunity to be part of a mission-driven organization that values spiritual growth and community impact. Additionally, the position requires adherence to the Abundant Lifestyle Agreement and attendance to church services, emphasizing the role's embeddedness in the church's faith culture.

The Barista must be proficient in taking accurate orders with attention to detail regarding customers’ preferences and prepare drinks to exact recipes for consistency and quality. Responsibilities also include maintaining cleanliness of workstations, seating areas, and equipment, as well as supporting volunteer training initiatives. This multifaceted job requires excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills to build rapport with church members and volunteers, strong organizational capabilities, and adaptability in a dynamic environment. Candidates will need to demonstrate a solid understanding of health and safety regulations and be physically able to lift up to 15 pounds.

This position is non-exempt under employment classification, facilitating fair labor standards and scheduled with respect to part-time work hours. Abundant Church is committed to an at-will employment relationship, allowing flexibility for both parties while maintaining the standards of a supportive and mission-driven workplace. The role offers personal and spiritual growth opportunities, alongside valuable experience in hospitality and community service within a faith-based setting.
