The Barista role at The Mills House is an exciting opportunity for coffee enthusiasts who love crafting the perfect cup of coffee and delivering outstanding customer service. This position involves preparing and serving a broad range of coffee beverages, including espressos, lattes, and cappuccinos, while also engaging with guests to ensure a personalized and enjoyable experience. The Barista will work in a fast-paced, energetic coffee shop environment where the ability to multitask, communicate effectively, and maintain a clean and organized workspace are essential.
Besides coffee preparation, the Barista will create latte art to enhance the presentation of each drink, upsell pastries and other items, and manage cash transactions accurately. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience as a barista or in a customer service role preferred
- Ability to prepare and serve coffee beverages
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to stand for long periods
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays
- Basic math skills for cash handling
- Willingness to comply with health and safety regulations
Job Qualifications
- Previous experience as a barista or in a similar role is preferred
- Knowledge of coffee brewing techniques and equipment
- Familiarity with various coffee beans and blends helpful
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Attention to detail and ability to maintain a clean and organized work area
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new recipes and techniques
- Prior cash handling experience
Job Duties
- Prepare and serve a variety of coffee beverages including espressos, lattes, cappuccinos, and more
- Engage with customers, take their orders, and provide recommendations based on their preferences
- Create latte art and ensure each drink is beautifully presented
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, including coffee machines and equipment
- Follow health and safety guidelines to ensure the quality and freshness of coffee products
- Upsell additional items such as pastries, snacks, or merchandise
- Handle cash transactions and operate the cash register accurately
- Provide friendly and efficient customer service, ensuring each guest feels welcomed and valued
