Job Description
Panera Bread, operating under the American Bread Company, is a well-established leader in the fast-casual dining industry, renowned for its commitment to quality, warmth, and community-driven service. Located at 2311 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE, Panera stands out as more than just a bakery or cafe—it's a vibrant hub where fresh, wholesome food is crafted and shared with care. As a top franchise group, Panera is dedicated to fostering a workplace culture that encourages learning, laughter, support, individuality, and personal growth. This company is committed to providing its employees with a supportive environment where their contributions are valued and career aspirations can be realized. Panera’s emphasis on real ingredients and high standards ensures that every baked good not only tastes exceptional but also meets the brand’s promise of quality and freshness.
The Baker role at Panera Bread is a key position that lies at the heart of the cafe’s operations. Bakers are responsible for producing all the fresh bread and pastries that the cafe needs on a daily basis. This is a role that demands both passion and precision, as maintaining high standards for flavor and quality using 100 percent real ingredients is paramount. Bakers at Panera are not only expected to bake but also to assist with food preparation, stocking, cleaning, and sanitation tasks to support overall cafe functionality. This position offers competitive pay ranging from $15.50 to $18.63 per hour plus tips, with bi-weekly pay cycles. In addition, Panera offers a comprehensive benefits package including paid vacation, free meals during shifts, and the innovative option of on-demand access to earned wages before payday through a special program.
Working as a Baker at Panera is more than just a job—it is an opportunity to join a team that values warmth, belonging, growth, and trust. Individuals who thrive as Bakers are motivated, friendly, hard-working, and eager to grow within the hospitality industry. Newcomers to baking will find support and development through two weeks of training designed to equip them with essential skills. Bakers at Panera enjoy working both independently and collaboratively, benefiting from an environment that promotes teamwork, initiative, and a proactive approach to achieving goals.
Moreover, Panera is deeply invested in its employees’ career progression offering a well-structured Path to Success program. Many of Panera’s leadership team members began their journey as hourly bakers, highlighting the potential for professional growth within the company. Panera’s ongoing commitment to skills development and training equips its team members with valuable experience that transcends cafe operations, preparing them for long-term career success. The company’s guiding values—warmth for guests, bold thoughts and brave actions, ownership, teamwork, inspiration, celebration, and respect—form the foundation of the workplace culture and drive the collective success of its team members.
If you are passionate about baking, eager to join an enthusiastic team, and ready to rise to new challenges, Panera Bread offers a fulfilling and dynamic work environment that values each individual’s contributions and invests in their futures. Join Panera and become part of a community that not only produces delicious bread and pastries but also fosters personal and professional growth in an inclusive, respectful, and fun setting.
