Job Description
The Little Theatre is a vibrant and cultural hub that hosts a variety of performances, events, and community activities. Known for its commitment to providing an engaging and welcoming environment for patrons, The Little Theatre features a charming cafe that enhances the overall experience for visitors. This cafe is dedicated to offering excellent service, quality refreshments, and a comfortable space for guests to relax before or after attending events. As a casual, non-exempt position, the cafe attendant role works directly under the supervision of the Cafe Manager to ensure smooth daily operations of the cafe area. The employment opportunity is casual with work hours primarily scheduled from Wednesdays through Sundays, requiring some weekend availability, totaling roughly 10 to 19 hours per week. The pay rate for this role is $16.00 per hour.
The primary function of the cafe attendant at The Little Theatre involves delivering exceptional customer service while managing a range of operational tasks connected to food and beverage preparation and service. This role requires familiarity with special coffee and tea making equipment to prepare high-quality drinks efficiently. The attendant will be responsible for managing food preparation assistance, maintaining cleanliness and organization of food service counters, ensuring all food cabinets remain stocked and tidy to facilitate full service, and reporting supply needs to management promptly. Attention to cleanliness extends to proper use of cleaning solutions in preparation and storage areas, as well as effective waste disposal and recycling practices.
The cafe attendant also plays a vital role in maintaining the professional appearance and atmosphere of the cafe space. Adherence to a dress code and projecting a positive image are essential to uphold the theatre's reputation for quality customer service. The role includes operational duties like serving food at the correct temperature and portion sizes, using appropriate presentation techniques, and handling cash register transactions. Supporting the overall customer experience through courteous and professional interactions with patrons, staff, and volunteers is a key responsibility.
At the close of each day, the cafe attendant ensures all close-down procedures are strictly followed to leave the space clean, tidy, and secure for the next day's trade. Working within the theatre's health, hygiene, quality, and safety standards is mandatory to guarantee compliance and service excellence. Additionally, the cafe attendant may be asked to take on other duties as assigned by any manager on duty, providing flexibility and support wherever needed. This role offers an excellent opportunity to be part of a culturally rich environment while gaining experience in food service and customer care.
