The role of Café Attendant at Hemingway's Tavern is a pivotal position focused on delivering an exceptional Grab & Go café experience for guests. As the friendly and welcoming face of the café, the Café Attendant prepares fresh food and specialty coffee beverages, assisting patrons with their purchases and maintaining a clean, inviting atmosphere. This position requires energetic and dependable individuals who are customer-service oriented and enjoy working in a lively, fast-paced setting. Responsibilities include managing point-of-sale transactions with accuracy and professionalism, balancing cash drawers, and ensuring food safety and sanitation standards are rigorously upheld.

Job Requirements

  • Applicants must be at least 18 years old to serve alcoholic beverages
  • Ability to stand and walk for the majority of an 8-hour shift
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and move freely throughout the café
  • Ability to safely lift and carry up to 30 pounds
  • Ability to safely operate café and kitchen equipment
  • Ability to work both indoors and outdoors as business needs require
  • Ability to interact professionally with guests and team members throughout the shift

Job Duties

  • Prepare and stock Grab & Go food items while maintaining the highest standards of food quality and presentation
  • Prepare and serve coffee, specialty beverages, and other café menu items
  • Operate the point-of-sale system and accurately process guest transactions
  • Maintain a balanced cash drawer and follow all cash-handling procedures
  • Provide friendly, attentive guest service and answer questions about café offerings
  • Keep the front counter, beverage station, seating areas, and café clean, organized, and inviting
  • Stock condiments, paper products, beverages, and other café supplies
  • Complete opening and closing duties according to company standards
  • Follow food safety, sanitation, and company operating procedures
  • Assist fellow team members and perform additional duties as needed to support café operations
