Job Description
Sam's Club is a renowned membership-only retail warehouse club that operates as a division of Walmart Inc., one of the world's largest and most respected retail corporations. Known for offering quality merchandise at everyday low prices, Sam's Club caters primarily to small business owners and families who seek convenience and value. With thousands of locations across the United States, Sam's Club combines a commitment to customer satisfaction, innovation in retail operations, and a supportive workplace culture that fosters growth and development among its associates.
This role is specifically for a position within the prepared foods merchandise area at Sam's Club. The job is hourly-based, offering a competitive wage range between $17.00 and $25.00 per hour, with additional performance-based bonuses and premiums possible based on factors such as schedule, season, or facility. This position emphasizes a blend of teamwork, product knowledge, technical proficiency, operational ownership, and leadership through mentorship.
In this position, you will act as a valuable team member responsible for maintaining up-to-date knowledge of product specifications related to prepared foods. Collaboration is key as you will work alongside cross-functional teams to educate fellow associates on relevant tools, tasks, and available resources. You must also be adaptable and flexible to the evolving needs of the business, occasionally working in other areas as necessary.
Expertise in food preparation according to strict item specifications is essential. You will understand production planning both for immediate needs and for mass production, including preparing for seasonal fluctuations. Adherence to food safety standards, sanitation protocols, cold chain compliance, and inventory management is mandatory. You will be entrusted with operating, maintaining, and sanitizing various equipment, ensuring that product layout and execution are done flawlessly.
The role also involves leveraging digital tools to drive sales and enhance the shopping experience for members, using handheld technologies to make real-time decisions related to production, inventory ordering, merchandise receiving, and product quality. As a tech-savvy associate, your ability to adapt to and promote new digital tools within the team will be highly valued.
Ownership of the work area includes responsibility for stocking and rotating merchandise, ensuring quality and date control, reducing waste, and directly engaging with members to provide excellent service. This means acknowledging members, assisting with purchasing decisions, managing payment types, and resolving any concerns or issues promptly.
Acting as a Talent Ambassador, you will uphold the company brand by fostering a respectful and supportive team environment, inspiring others to develop their skills and engage in continuous learning. Proactively addressing roadblocks and participating in training initiatives will be important parts of your contribution.
Sam's Club also emphasizes compliance with all company policies, procedures, and ethics standards. You will execute business processes diligently, communicate effectively with managers and co-workers, prioritize workloads efficiently, and embrace feedback and change as opportunities for growth.
To support a healthy, balanced lifestyle, Sam's Club offers a comprehensive benefits package. These include medical, dental, and vision coverage; financial benefits such as 401(k), stock purchase plans, and company-paid life insurance; a variety of paid time off options including parental leave and bereavement; and additional perks like disability coverage, company discounts, military leave pay, and adoption/surrogacy expense reimbursement. The company also runs Live Better U, an educational program offering paid tuition for a range of academic pursuits from high school completion to bachelor's degrees.
With a workplace commitment to safety and a no-tolerance policy for illegal drugs and alcohol, Sam's Club ensures a productive and secure working environment. This role, located at 2605 Blairs Ferry Rd NE in Cedar Rapids, IA, is an excellent opportunity to join a dynamic retail team dedicated to service, innovation, and growth.
