Job Description

Twin Rivers Unified School District is a respected educational institution dedicated to fostering a supportive and inclusive environment for students and staff alike. Located in California, this public school district serves diverse community needs through comprehensive educational programs and services. The district is committed to equity and non-discrimination, actively promoting respect for all individuals regardless of race, color, ancestry, national origin, ethnic group, age, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, or disability status. As part of its commitment to staff welfare, the district offers robust benefit packages including medical, dental, vision, and life insurance for eligible employees.

The role of Cafe Assistant II at Rio Linda Prep is a full-time position requiring a dedicated individual to perform a variety of food service and preparation tasks. This role is essential in maintaining the smooth operation of the school’s cafeteria, which may also function as a food production hub for other remote sites within the district. The position comes with competitive compensation ranging from $18.30 to $24.22 per hour, commensurate with relevant experience, and involves working 7 hours a day, five days a week for 183 work days annually.

The Cafe Assistant II will be responsible for preparing large quantities of food, portioning and packaging meals efficiently, serving students and staff, and ensuring cleanliness and sanitation in the food service area. Additionally, the incumbent will operate point-of-sale systems, acting as a cashier and handling transactions accurately. This role demands strong organizational skills, attention to food safety standards, and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.

Candidates with a high school diploma or equivalent and up to two years of experience in large quantity food preparation or food service are encouraged to apply. Holding a valid food handler’s certificate is required, and a valid driver’s license may also be necessary. Beyond the technical skills, the ideal candidate will uphold the district’s values of non-discrimination and provide a welcoming atmosphere to all patrons of the cafeteria. This opportunity offers a stable work environment in education with benefits that support the well-being of the employee through comprehensive health plans, as well as a chance to contribute positively to the school community through quality food service.
