Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Three to six months restaurant or related experience and/or training
  • Familiarity with basic first aid procedures
  • Ability to read, interpret, and write operational documents
  • Effective speaking skills
  • Ability to calculate figures and perform basic mathematics
  • Ability to solve practical problems and understand varied instructions
  • Must pass testing on professional food handlers material
  • Attend Department of Business Regulation class if required
  • Valid Florida Driver’s License and safe driving record
  • Knowledge of computers
  • Experience with POS and office equipment
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
  • Ability to sit, use hands, talk, hear frequently
  • Occasional standing, walking, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling
  • Exposure to moving mechanical parts and outdoor weather
  • Ability to work in moderately noisy and crowded conditions

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Three to six months restaurant or related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Familiarity with basic first aid procedures related to choking, minor accidents, and insect bites
  • Ability to read and interpret operational documents, safety rules, and correspondence
  • Effective oral communication skills for speaking before groups of customers
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations including discounts, interest, and percentages
  • Problem-solving skills to address practical issues and interpret varied instructions
  • Knowledge of computers including Word, Excel, Outlook, and POS systems
  • Experience with multi-line phone systems, fax, copier, and cash registers
  • Valid Florida driver’s license and safe driving record

Job Duties

  • Inspects food and performs food preparation to maintain quality standards and sanitation regulations
  • Adheres to established security, sales, and recordkeeping procedures and practices
  • Uses a computer system or POS to total prices and tax on merchandise purchased by customers to determine bills, accepts payment, and makes change
  • Cleans and maintains equipment, floors, tables, and glass
  • Keeps record of sales, prepares inventory of stock and orders merchandise, assists management in ordering food and beverage by creating par levels
  • Investigates and resolves food quality and service complaints
  • Maintains an appearance and presents an attitude conducive to visitor service goals and objectives of the museum
  • Ensures customer needs and concerns are responded to promptly and courteously
  • Communicates effectively on telephone and reliably records messages, including school lunch orders and catering requests
  • Creates prep lists and inventory par levels based on business flow
  • Assists management with catering and rentals outside of café working hours, including setup, serving, breaking down, and inventory
