The company is dedicated to fostering a positive work culture that emphasizes engagement, inclusivity, and personal development, making it an excellent place for professionals passionate about hospitality to grow and thrive.
We are currently seeking a General Manager I (GM) to manage a Quick Service Restaurant (QSR) or a small cluster of restaurants or points-of-sale with annual sales typically up to $5 million. The GM plays a critical role in ensuring operational excellence, financial success, and team leadership within the assigned locations. This role involves overseeing day-to-day restaurant operations, including staffing, product availability, training, safety compliance, and customer satisfaction.
As a General Manager at HMSHost, you will be entrusted with broad discretion and judgment, guiding the restaurant to meet and exceed high standards in cleanliness, customer service, and financial performance. Your leadership will create an environment where employees are motivated, engaged, and equipped with the skills and tools needed to succeed. This position involves working a varied schedule, including some opening and closing shifts, to ensure effective supervision and support of your team across different hours and days.
The General Manager I is responsible for recruiting, hiring, and training staff, building strong team dynamics, and fostering an inclusive workplace culture aligned with the company's diversity and inclusion philosophy. You will manage payroll, prepare schedules, and deploy resources strategically to maximize profitability. Additionally, you will handle vendor relations, oversee inventory and equipment maintenance, and participate in compliance audits and quality assurance processes.
Strong financial acumen is crucial, as the GM is accountable for the restaurant’s profit and loss outcomes, demonstrating success through multiple annual fiscal cycles. You will be expected to utilize company management systems and reporting tools proficiently to make data-driven decisions. Your ability to handle complex challenges, resolve associate and customer issues with discretion, and implement innovative marketing strategies will contribute significantly to business growth.
HMSHost offers an attractive salary range from $54,646 to $62,453 annually for this role. Along with competitive pay, the company provides an outstanding benefits package that supports your health, financial security, and personal growth. Benefits include health, dental, and vision insurance; generous paid time off encompassing vacation and sick leave; holiday pay; meal and transportation allowances; a 401(k) retirement plan with a company match; company-paid life insurance; tuition reimbursement programs; employee assistance resources; career development and training opportunities; and a referral bonus program.
Joining HMSHost means becoming part of a company that values reliability, positive energy, and a passion for service. If you are enthusiastic about leading teams, embracing fast-paced environments, and delivering memorable customer experiences, HMSHost provides the platform and support to help you succeed and advance your career in the dynamic hospitality sector.
