Job Requirements
- must be able to lift 50 pounds
- standing or walking for 6 to 8 hours per 8-hour workday
- hand use including single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing, and pulling
- work requires bending, twisting, squatting and reaching
- exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals
- exposure to temperatures up to 90 degrees Fahrenheit
- ability to work in wet and cold environments
- ability to handle knives and cutting equipment
- ability to work flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
- ability to use tools and equipment such as box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery
Job Qualifications
- 14 plus months retail experience
- successfully completed Whole Foods Market Butcher Apprentice Program or equivalent training
- excellent cutting skills with ability to break down product into sub-primal and retail cuts
- extensive knowledge of different cuts and cooking techniques of meat and seafood
- ability to visually examine products for quality and freshness
- strong communication skills and willingness to work as part of a team
- ability to meet customer service expectations and standards

- understanding of and compliance with Whole Foods Market quality goals
- ability to follow directions, effectively manage time, and organize work
- strong work ethic and ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a sense of urgency
Job Duties
- Cuts, platters, and merchandises products including beef, pork, lamb, veal, and poultry
- prepares specialty meat merchandise such as sausage, oven-ready products, and cured meats
- checks product to ensure it meets Whole Foods Market quality standards
- maintains sampling program
- monitors and assists in preventing spoilage
- mentors and supports assigned Meat Cutter Trainee(s)
- arrives to work station on time, appropriately groomed, dressed and ready to work
- provides excellent customer service, addressing needs of customers in a timely and effective manner
- maximizes sales potential through effective prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising product
- follows and complies with established procedures including weights and measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices
- maintains a clean and sanitary working and shopping environment
- performs opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned
- immediately reports safety hazards and violations
- performs other duties as assigned by store, regional, or national leadership
