The Goode Company Butcher role is a critical position within the butchery team, responsible for expertly cutting, trimming, and preparing meat and poultry products to precise company specifications. This role is based at the Stafford, Texas facility and is ideal for detail-oriented individuals who take pride in craftsmanship and maintaining high sanitation and safety standards. Working predominantly in early morning shifts, the butcher ensures that a fresh supply of meat products is ready daily to meet the demands of various restaurant locations. Key responsibilities include using specialized butcher's tools and equipment such as knives, cleavers, meat saws, and electric grinders to prepare products like steaks, chops, stew cubes, and ground meat.

In addition to technical meat handling, the role requires team collaboration and supporting sanitation processes by disassembling and reassembling equipment to uphold cleanliness and safety protocols. The position demands physical stamina, attention to detail, and an ability to work in refrigerated environments for extended periods. Candidates should have a high school diploma or equivalent, relevant experience or culinary coursework, and possess a Texas Food Handler Certification. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least 18 years of age
  • Current Texas Food Handler Certification
  • Authorization to work in the United States
  • Ability to work early morning shifts
  • Physical stamina to walk and stand for prolonged periods
  • Ability to frequently stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, twist, grasp, and perform repetitive hand movements
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs
  • Able to endure cold room temperatures below 40 degrees Fahrenheit
  • Availability to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Punctuality and adherence to company policies
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills

Job Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a butcher preferred
  • High school diploma or high school equivalency diploma required
  • Must be at least 18 years of age to apply
  • Ability to demonstrate fast de-boning skills
  • Perform all duties with pride and craftsmanship and work well in a team environment
  • Basic culinary coursework or equivalent experience highly preferred
  • Knowledge of general sanitary and safety practices
  • Must be able to work under strict deadlines
  • Be on time for all scheduled shifts and adhere to company policies
  • Committed to co-workers
  • Self-motivated, organized, and detailed individual
  • Acceptable verbal English communication skills
  • Displays proficiency in time management
  • Must be able to provide current Texas Food Handler Certification
  • Authorized to work in the United States
  • Flexibility to change shift schedules as needed

Job Duties

  • Expertly cut, trim, and prepare meat and poultry to company specifications
  • Work early morning shifts to ensure fresh daily supply for our locations
  • Maintain cleanliness, precision, and consistency in every cut
  • Collaborate with a hardworking, supportive team
  • Maintain and stock product in warehouse, understanding product dating and inventory control
  • Cut, trim, bone, tie, and grind meats using butcher’s cutlery and power equipment such as electric grinder
  • Use knives, cleavers, meat saws, or other equipment to perform meat cutting and trimming
