Job Description

Tradition. Passion. Community. These core values have been the foundation of the Chicago Yacht Club since its establishment off the coast of Lake Michigan in 1875. As one of the oldest and most respected yacht clubs globally, the Chicago Yacht Club prides itself on cultivating a diverse and engaged membership. Located in Chicago, this prestigious club boasts two unique locations, Monroe and Belmont, each offering stunning views of Lake Michigan and the iconic Chicago skyline. The club is not just a place for yachting enthusiasts but a vibrant community where members enjoy a rich variety of social events, educational programs, holiday celebrations, and cultural outings. From informal barbecues and dockside potlucks to sophisticated wine tastings and elegant black-tie New Year’s Eve galas, the club provides endless opportunities for its members to connect, celebrate, and engage.

Working at the Chicago Yacht Club means becoming part of a deep-rooted tradition ranked among the top 5 Platinum Yacht Clubs in the United States. Employees benefit from a supportive and knowledgeable management team, excellent networking opportunities with fellow staff and members, and cross-training options to encourage professional growth. The club is conveniently located close to the Lake Shore bike trail and Divvy stations, offering bicycle parking for staff and discounted or onsite parking during the off-season. The work environment is enriched by breathtaking lake views and dynamic events like regattas that keep the calendar filled year-round.

The role of Server Assistant is crucial in delivering an outstanding dining experience at the club. Reporting to the Food & Beverage Director, the Server Assistant supports both a la carte and banquet functions, ensuring service flows smoothly and guests feel genuinely welcomed. This position demands a confident and hospitable individual who thrives as part of a front-of-house team within a fast-paced, member-focused environment. Responsibilities include setting dining areas to the exacting standards of Food & Beverage Management, greeting members and guests warmly, replenishing beverages, clearing tables promptly, and assisting servers to ensure exceptional service. The role requires excellent organizational skills, a basic knowledge of beer, wine, and spirits, and the ability to anticipate and respond to guests’ needs proactively.

The Server Assistant also plays a key role in maintaining cleanliness and sanitation across dining and service areas, adhering strictly to club policies including safety and attendance regulations. This position offers a chance to learn and grow within a prestigious institution, while working in a welcoming and social atmosphere that celebrates tradition, passion, and community. Whether you are looking to start your career in hospitality or expand your experience in a premier setting, the Chicago Yacht Club offers an unmatched opportunity to be part of something special while developing valuable skills and building meaningful connections.
