Job Description

The Busser role is integral to the seamless operation of the front of house. The Busser is primarily responsible for clearing tables efficiently after guests finish their meals and promptly re-setting them with fresh place settings, helping maintain a clean and organized dining area. This role involves interaction with guests, responding politely to questions, and assisting servers as needed to ensure excellent service standards are met. The Busser also plays a key part in maintaining hygiene and safety by regularly inspecting and cleaning the floor, carpets, and restrooms to provide a pristine environment for guests and staff alike.

This position requires physical stamina to stand and move quickly throughout the shift, often involving lifting, bending, and repeated hand and wrist activity. The Busser assists in setting up tables before service begins and participates in clearing and organizing trays for the dishwasher, helping to streamline operations at peak times. They report directly to the Front of House Manager or Manager on Duty, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and that the flow from seating to dining to clearing is handled smoothly.

Ideal candidates will possess strong interpersonal skills, a cooperative attitude, and the ability to perform under pressure in a busy restaurant setting. Good judgment, respect for personal hygiene, and professionalism are essential qualities for success in this role. While a high school diploma or equivalency degree is preferred, relevant experience in a similar environment is also valued. Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Clear away dishes from guests
  • re-set tabletops with place settings and wipe down chairs
  • inspect and clean carpet and other flooring when debris or liquid is detected
  • respond to guests’ questions and make recommendations as appropriate
  • set up and maintain the work area including setting up tables at the beginning or end of shift
  • carry trays back to dishwasher, unload and wipe trays clean
  • scrape and stack dishes
  • return dirty dishes and silverware to dishwashing area, sorting and placing them for washing
  • stock stations with silverware, napkins, etc.
  • check restrooms for cleanliness
  • respond to guest additional requests and assist servers with their tables as needed
  • inspect floor for debris, spills and sweep or dry as necessary
  • perform other duties as assigned by management
