The role of Busser is essential to supporting the food and beverage team by maintaining a clean, orderly dining area and assisting with the timely clearing and resetting of tables. Key responsibilities include removing dirty dishes, trays, and silverware; arranging tables with fresh settings; and observing safe food handling practices compliant with California regulations. The Busser acts as an ambassador of hospitality by helping to create an enjoyable guest experience and promoting teamwork by assisting other staff as needed. Additionally, this role involves reporting any unsafe practices, suspicious behaviors within the casino, or anyone who may pose a risk to the company’s operations.
This full-time role demands physical stamina, as employees will be required to stand and walk frequently, reach, lift items up to 50 pounds, and exhibit dexterity and good vision to perform duties efficiently. Certification requirements include maintaining a valid Food Handler’s Card, Responsible Beverage Server (RBS) Certification, and a Gaming License which necessitates passing a background check and renewals as required by city regulations. Job Requirements
- Pass a thorough background check to obtain a Gaming License
- Maintain an active Gaming License according to city requirements
- Obtain and maintain a current Food Handler’s Card
- Obtain and maintain a current Responsible Beverage Server (RBS) Certification
- Ability to stand constantly during work hours
- Frequently walk and reach with hands and arms
- Occasionally climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Frequently use hand to finger movements and handle or feel objects
- Regularly lift and move up to 50 pounds
- Possess close, distance, peripheral vision and depth perception
- Ability to adjust focus
- Must be able to talk and hear effectively
Job Qualifications
- Excellent communication and interpersonal relationship skills
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of guests or team members
- Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division
- Ability to solve practical problems and interpret various instructions
- High school diploma or GED preferred but not required
- Minimum of 6 months related experience or training preferred but not required
Job Duties
- Maintain a clean and professional restaurant environment including the coffee area and bussing trays, dirty dishes and flatware to the dishwashing area
- Remove dirty plates, silverware, glassware and any items left on tables after guests depart
- Set up tables with fresh utensils, plates, and glasses for new guests
- Follow safe California Food Handlers guidelines
- Promote teamwork by circulating the dining room and assisting other team members as needed
- Provide a superior dining experience by establishing rapport with guests
- Report unsafe practices, hazardous conditions, or suspicious individuals to management or security
- Attend annual BSA/AML training as scheduled
