Job Description
Home Run Inn Pizza is a fourth-generation family business based in Chicago, known for its authentic Chicago tavern-style pizza. Established many decades ago, Home Run Inn has built a strong reputation as a leader in the frozen pizza market, especially within Chicago but also extending its influence beyond the city. The company combines a passion for quality food with a dedication to creating memorable dining experiences for guests. With a thriving restaurant and frozen pizza business, Home Run Inn prides itself on not only its iconic pizza but also its team-oriented culture that values family, pride, grit, and courage.
At the core of Home Run Inn's mission is the desire to deliver "more Home Runs in their day" through great food and outstanding service. The company emphasizes internal growth and career development, often promoting employees from entry-level roles such as pizza makers, cashiers, and production teammates into leadership positions. This commitment to fostering a positive work environment where values come first and careers are built sets Home Run Inn apart in the hospitality and food service industry.
The Busser position at Home Run Inn is an integral role in maintaining the smooth operation and cleanliness of the restaurant. This part-time role, offering 12-18 hours per week, requires a hardworking, enthusiastic, and reliable individual to join the restaurant team located in Chicago's Garfield Ridge neighborhood. The position’s responsibilities focus on ensuring a clean and organized dining area and kitchen, contributing directly to the guest experience by supporting servers and keeping the environment welcoming.
This job entails tasks such as cleaning and resetting tables promptly between seatings, assisting with food delivery during busy times, managing the cleanliness of restrooms, and supporting teammates in bar stock and glass washing when needed. Additionally, the role calls for good communication skills to coordinate with servers and kitchen staff to maintain an efficient flow during service periods. The Busser position requires flexibility in work schedule with evening and weekend shifts, along with some weekdays from 4 pm to closing.
Compensation for this role includes an hourly wage starting at $12.96 plus earned tips, and Home Run Inn guarantees a minimum pay rate of $17.05 per hour when combining base pay and tips. The company values employees' efforts and ensures fair compensation even on slower shifts. Food safety is also emphasized; employees must obtain a Food Handler certification within 30 days of hiring.
Working at Home Run Inn not only involves delivering top-notch service but also being part of a team that respects its roots and values its people. Physical stamina is important for this role as it involves standing for long periods, lifting up to 50 pounds safely, and working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. The position also requires individuals to be at least 16 years old and comfortable working around common food allergens such as milk, eggs, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat, soybeans, and sesame.
Overall, the Busser role at Home Run Inn offers a fantastic opportunity for those seeking part-time employment in a well-established, family-oriented company with strong community ties and a rewarding team atmosphere. Whether this is a first job or a chance to join a growing business rooted in tradition and quality, candidates can expect a supportive environment and the chance to contribute to the success of a beloved Chicago institution.
