Job Description
Founded in Manhattan in 1965, Fridays began as a unique gathering place designed to blend a relaxed yet exciting environment where people could meet and socialize. The original vision of Alan Stillman was to create a lively atmosphere to meet Pan Am stewardesses, which quickly turned Fridays into an iconic bar and grill known for great food, innovative drinks, and an energetic ambiance. Today, the Fridays location in Bedford Park, Illinois continues to uphold this tradition, offering a welcoming, casual dining experience that celebrates its rich heritage as one of America's most beloved bar and grill establishments.
The establishment is seeking motivated individuals to join its team in the role of Busser. This position is integral to maintaining the high standards of cleanliness and customer service that define the Fridays brand. Bussers play a key role in ensuring that the dining area is continuously clean, organized, and well-stocked, thereby enhancing the overall guest experience. This role provides an excellent opportunity for entry-level candidates or those looking to gain experience in the hospitality or restaurant industry. It's a position that operates under direct supervision, making it ideal for individuals developing their skills in a supportive environment.
The Busser is responsible primarily for clearing and cleaning tables efficiently and resetting them to ready the dining area for incoming guests. This includes clearing dishware and glassware during service, maintaining a tidy dining space, and restocking service areas to support waitstaff in delivering prompt and attentive service. Additionally, bussers may assist with dishwashing responsibilities as needed to ensure operations run smoothly. Because the role involves occasional unsupervised interaction with guests and colleagues, candidates should possess good interpersonal skills and a customer-oriented attitude.
Staff in this role will have access to sensitive areas within the hotel premises such as master keys, guestrooms, storage and liquor rooms, and secured file cabinets, which underscores the need for trustworthiness and sound judgment. Representing the company well and exercising discretion as a company ambassador is vital. This position requires organizational skills, clerical capabilities, and oral communication competencies to handle basic issues proficiently and escalate more complex problems appropriately.
Employees in full-time positions at Fridays are eligible for a comprehensive benefits package after an initial waiting period, which reinforces the company's commitment to its team. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, short-term and long-term disability income, term life insurance, paid time off, a 401k retirement plan, and an employee assistance program. Moreover, Fridays now offers daily pay, an innovative benefit allowing employees to access their earnings sooner, helping provide financial flexibility and support.
For those passionate about working in a vibrant restaurant environment that honors a celebrated legacy and prioritizes customer service excellence, the Busser position at Fridays offers an ideal gateway. Supporting the frontline service team while ensuring a welcoming and clean dining atmosphere, bussers contribute significantly to creating the memorable experiences that keep guests coming back. With its blend of legendary hospitality and a competitive benefits package, Fridays continues to be a sought-after employer in the industry.
