Job Description
The Busser position is essential within the restaurant industry, responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the dining area to ensure a pleasant and efficient dining experience for all guests. Typically employed in casual dining establishments, fine dining restaurants, or hospitality venues, a Busser supports the waitstaff by promptly clearing and resetting tables, replenishing supplies, and assisting in general upkeep throughout the service period. Job Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during shifts
- Basic communication skills to interact courteously with guests and team members
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Physical ability to lift and carry items such as trays, dishes, and cleaning supplies
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred but not required
Job Qualifications
- Previous experience in a restaurant or hospitality environment preferred
- Knowledge of proper food handling and sanitation practices
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced team setting
- Strong attention to detail and a proactive attitude
- Basic understanding of customer service principles
Job Duties
- Clear and clean tables promptly after guests have finished dining to prepare for the next seating
- Reset tables with clean linens, silverware, glassware, and condiments according to restaurant standards
- Assist servers by refilling water glasses, delivering chips or other items, and responding to guest requests as needed
- Maintain cleanliness in the dining area, including sweeping floors, wiping down surfaces, and organizing chairs
- Dispose of trash and recyclables properly and ensure that service stations are stocked and orderly
- Collaborate with kitchen and waitstaff to facilitate efficient service and timely table turnover
- Follow all health and safety regulations to maintain a safe and sanitary environment
