The position of Busser is pivotal in maintaining the smooth operation of the restaurant floor. The primary responsibility of the Busser is to promptly clear used dishes and tableware while preparing tables professionally and welcoming new guests with readiness and attention to detail. This role significantly contributes to expediting service by supporting servers and bartenders—helping with food running, making salads, fetching drinks, and other tasks that meet customer needs efficiently and courteously. The role demands a positive attitude, excellent physical stamina, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced setting.
The Busser operates not only as an essential support team member but also as a friendly face to guests, ensuring their experience is consistently positive. Alongside maintaining cleanliness and order throughout the dining area and other public spaces (including floors, bathrooms, lobby, and exterior visible areas), the Busser also answers phone calls, helps ensure food orders are accurate, and assists in various operational duties such as opening and closing tasks. This role is vital in sustaining the restaurant’s standard of service described as "As Good as Gold," where attention to detail such as saving reusable silverware and careful dishwashing is emphasized.
In addition to the hands-on tasks, the Busser must meet physical demands including lifting and carrying heavy items, standing, walking, and occasionally performing tasks that require bending or reaching. Safety, respect, professionalism, and a commitment to customer service are fundamental expectations. Prior experience in a restaurant setting is preferred, along with certifications like the California Food Handler Card and Responsible Beverage Services (RBS) certification if over 18 years of age. This employment opportunity also welcomes high-energy individuals who manage time well, communicate clearly, and flourish under pressure, particularly during busy periods and weekend shifts.
Overall, this position combines opportunity, responsibility, and benefits in a hospitality role that promises a dynamic and engaging work environment focusing on service excellence and employee growth.
