The Busser role at MH Restaurants is a critical position within the service team. The primary goal is to enhance the guest dining experience by ensuring the cleanliness and readiness of tables and dining areas, assisting with beverage refills, and supporting the service staff in delivering smooth, efficient service throughout the meal. As a busser, you will interact directly with guests, greeting them promptly and providing table accompaniments such as condiments and utensils to prepare them for their dining experience. You will be responsible for clearing used tableware between courses, resetting tables quickly for incoming guests, and maintaining the overall cleanliness of the restaurant and outdoor dining spaces.

This role requires an individual who is detail-oriented, proactive, and capable of working well within a team. Cross-training with other service positions is part of the job to ensure a consistent standard of service regardless of the dynamic demands throughout dining shifts. You will maintain regular communication with management, kitchen staff, servers, and guests to address any service issues and ensure guest satisfaction.

Additional responsibilities include maintaining various cleaning duties such as sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, and cleaning glass doors and windows. The busser also routinely inspects restrooms and tidies them as necessary, communicating and assisting with food delivery, especially during busy periods, and performing other tasks assigned by supervisors or managers. Maintaining the restaurant's dress code and uniform standards, adhering to company policies, completing required training via the company portal, and following a reliable work schedule are all essential components of this position.

This hourly role starts at a wage of $7.25 plus tips, providing an opportunity to earn additional income based on performance and customer interaction. Job Duties

  • Maintain a clean working area by sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, cleaning glass doors and windows as needed
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills including telephone etiquette
  • Communicate special guest needs to servers and restaurant supervisors
  • Collect and maintain cleanliness of dining menus throughout the restaurant
  • Maintain communication with management, kitchen staff, service staff, and guests to ensure dining details are handled properly and guest concerns are addressed
  • Provide guidance to guests on dining options and general restaurant information
  • Promptly greet guests as they are seated and bring water to table
  • Remove used tableware between courses and aid in providing tableware for next course including rolling silver duties
  • Take soiled tableware to dish room and unload, sort and stack silverware, dishes, glassware, etc. in designated areas in the soiled dish drop off area
  • Between seatings promptly clean table tops, chairs, and booths
  • Check floor and clean as required
  • Reset and arrange tabletop
  • Perform basic cleaning tasks as needed or directed by supervisor
  • Inspect assigned restroom every 30 minutes and clean as needed
  • Communicate with server to assure efficient seating, table utilization and customer service
  • Assist server with food delivery, especially with large parties during peak periods
  • Thank guests as they are leaving
  • Be available to fill in as needed to ensure smooth and efficient operation of the restaurant as directed by manager or supervisor
  • Follow all policies and procedures of MH Restaurants
  • Attend mandatory meetings as directed
  • Perform other tasks including cross-training as directed
  • Maintain dress code and uniform standard
  • Complete required training through company training portal
  • Adhere to consistent and reliable work schedule
  • Demonstrate ethical business practices and integrity
  • Effectively perform duties and responsibilities in a safe manner
  • Other duties as assigned
