The role of Busser/Barback at Shakou is integral to supporting both the physical environment and overall guest experience. This position focuses on maintaining cleanliness and readiness of the dining and bar areas, ensuring that guests are promptly seated and their needs are met efficiently. The Busser/Barback works closely with waitstaff, bartenders, and kitchen personnel to enhance service quality, helping to expedite table availability and bar seating. Key responsibilities include cleaning and resetting tables, stocking supplies, and preparing garnish for the bar, all while interacting courteously with guests. This position demands physical stamina, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills to thrive in a fast-paced hospitality environment. Overall, the Busser/Barback plays a critical role in supporting the restaurant's operations and helping create a positive experience that encourages guest satisfaction and repeat visits.

Job Requirements

  • No previous experience is necessary
  • may be required to shadow another busser/barback as training depending on experience
  • must pass a written test regarding Shakou’s menu

Job Duties

  • Interact with guests in a friendly and efficient manner
  • ensure guests’ complete satisfaction by exceeding their expectations including ensuring table is clean and utensils, napkins, and other needs are provided
  • assist with cleaning the dining or bar area and preparing silverware and condiments including during opening and closing of the restaurant
  • clear and reset tables or bar area
  • remove all dishes and other items from the table following the meal
  • clean and prepare table or bar area for new guests in accordance with company’s standards
  • set up and break down the dining room for each shift
  • support waiters, bartenders, and kitchen staff in other duties as required
  • retrieve products or stock products for dining or bar area including beer, wine, spirits, condiments, ice, glassware, or fresh produce
  • prepare bar for service including cutting, slicing, and peeling perishable garnishes and fruits
  • maintain complete knowledge of the restaurant’s food and beverage preparation and menu with ability to answer customer questions
  • perform other duties as assigned
