Job Description
Out West Restaurant Group is the largest franchisee of Outback Steakhouse in the United States, operating numerous locations across the country. Outback Steakhouse is an Australian-themed restaurant that has become a beloved dining destination since its opening in 1988. Known for its unique approach to food and hospitality, Outback Steakhouse combines seriousness about quality with a fun and welcoming atmosphere. The company prides itself on its core philosophy of treating people "Just Right," fostering a culture where respect, camaraderie, and enthusiasm thrive. This approach not only creates memorable dining experiences for guests but also creates an energized and supportive workplace for employees, affectionately called "Outbackers."
Working at Out West Restaurant Group means being part of a team that is committed to delivering an AUS-SOME dining experience for every guest. Employees have the opportunity to grow and advance their careers through programs such as the Shift Leader training and ongoing development opportunities. The company maintains a hospitable culture that recognizes hard work, effort, perseverance, and leadership. Additionally, Out West Restaurant Group supports its employees with comprehensive benefits, including medical, dental, and vision insurance for those eligible under ACA guidelines, paid sick leave in accordance with California law, flexible scheduling, meal discounts, and a company-sponsored Employee Assistance Program. The company also values family time and closes on Thanksgiving and Christmas Day to allow employees to be with loved ones.
The role being offered is an hourly, non-exempt position with a pay rate of $16.90 per hour plus tips. The position involves serving as a team player within the restaurant to support the smooth operation of the guest experience. Responsibilities include bussing, cleaning, and resetting tables, addressing service and cleanliness needs in public areas, answering phones professionally, and supporting all areas of restaurant operations as needed. This role requires a commitment to safe food handling, sanitation standards, and adherence to all safety procedures during shifts.
Candidates will need to be able to move quickly in a fast-paced environment, have manual dexterity for handling utensils and technology systems, and be physically capable of lifting up to 30 pounds and performing tasks that require bending, reaching, kneeling, squatting, and standing for extended periods. Those working in California must obtain Responsible Beverage Service Certifications, which can be completed during training or within 60 days of starting the position. Out West Restaurant Group adheres strictly to California wage and hour laws and provides a supportive and non-discriminatory working environment committed to pay equality and employee rights.
This position offers great potential for those seeking a rewarding job in a renowned restaurant chain, as well as opportunities to build a meaningful career while enjoying a culture that values fun, respect, and personal growth. Out West Restaurant Group is also recognized for its community involvement and has earned prestigious awards like the Monitor 200 Award for being one of the top 50 franchisees in the U.S. for four consecutive years and the 2022 Franchisee of the Year for Exemplifying Excellence in Local Community Service from the International Franchise Association. The group actively supports nonprofit organizations like California Care and CORE that assist restaurant employees and their families during difficult times. Interested applicants are encouraged to apply as the company continually seeks talented individuals to join the Outback family.
