The temporary Busperson role at Conrad New York Downtown is an exciting opportunity to become part of a dynamic Food and Beverage Team dedicated to delivering outstanding guest experiences. This position requires flexibility to work various shifts, including weekdays, weekends, and holidays, under the auspices of the Local 6 Union, which demands open availability and adaptability to changing schedules based on seniority and business needs. The pay rate for this role is $21.74 per hour, plus tips, reflecting both the specialized experience requirements and the hotel’s prime location.

As a Busperson, you will play a vital supporting role in maintaining the high standards of dining service that Conrad guests expect. Your primary responsibilities will include setting and clearing dining tables with careful attention to detail, ensuring that all tableware is in excellent condition, and efficiently stocking and maintaining designated food stations. Collaboration with food servers is crucial, as you will assist in serving beverages and bread, responding promptly to guest inquiries, and addressing any issues with friendliness and efficiency. This role not only supports the guest experience but also contributes to the smooth financial operation of the Food and Beverage Department.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be available to work various shifts including weekdays, weekends and holidays
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks
  • Must be comfortable with changing schedules and varying hours
  • Willingness to work as part of a team and support hospitality goals
  • Union membership as required by Local 6 Union
  • No schedule restrictions due to union requirements

Job Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a hospitality or food and beverage role preferred
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekdays, weekends and holidays

Job Duties

  • Set and prepare tables for dining, including folding napkins, cleaning and placing tableware, serving water
  • Ensure tableware is in good and working condition and report any defects for repair
  • Stock, maintain and clean designated food station(s)
  • Assist food server(s) with table service, including serving beverages and breads
  • Retrieve and transport dirty tableware to dishwashing area
  • Respond to guest inquiries and requests and resolve issues in a timely, friendly and efficient manner
