Job Description
This opportunity is with a well-established independent franchise hotel owned and operated by Stanford Hotel Corporation, a separate entity from Marriott International, Inc. This franchisee is fully responsible for the hotel’s employment policies and practices, including hiring, firing, compensation, benefits, discipline, staffing, and other employment-related matters. Candidates hired for this position will be employees of the franchise and not Marriott International. This hotel prides itself on providing a high-quality, luxury guest experience and maintaining a strong, competitive presence in the marketplace through outstanding guest services and effective sales and marketing strategies. The hotel’s commitment to excellence extends throughout its operations, ensuring guests enjoy superior accommodations, facilities, and attentive interactions.
The role available is for a Hotel Sales Manager who will generate a positive reputation and quality perception of the hotel in the market. The individual in this position will be responsible for driving guest room revenue and other related income streams in accordance with targets as outlined by the General Manager. Salary for this full-time role is $39.79 per hour, reflecting the experienced nature and critical responsibilities of the position.
The Hotel Sales Manager acts as a critical member of the leadership team, tasked with maximizing profitability while ensuring guest satisfaction remains paramount. This role requires a high degree of sales acumen and market knowledge to effectively solicit new and repeat business from key accounts including conventions, corporate clients, and individual customers. The manager will be responsible for meeting or exceeding set booking goals, managing costs within budget guidelines, and negotiating as necessary with clients to secure profitable contracts without compromising revenue objectives.
Part of the role’s responsibilities includes maintaining strong relationships through multiple channels — actively making sales calls, utilizing telemarketing, conducting site inspections, and hosting clients to experience the hotel's offerings first-hand. The sales manager monitors competitor pricing and service levels to position the hotel competitively within the local and regional market. In addition, they evaluate all business leads for financial viability and overall benefit, and promote upselling strategies to enhance revenue while maintaining the hotel’s luxury standards.
The position also demands excellent customer service and relationship management skills, ensuring VIP guests and clients have their needs met while securing feedback to continuously improve service delivery. Administrative duties entail preparing weekly reports documenting financial performance, booking activities, personal solicitation efforts, and expenses. The manager works closely with other hotel departments to promote seamless operations and coordination, enhancing the overall guest experience.
Candidates will have a minimum of three years’ experience as a Hotel Sales Manager in a similar capacity. A high school diploma is required, with some college education preferred; a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent educational and professional experience is advantageous. Relevant military experience will be considered favorably. This role involves participation in the Hotel Manager on Duty program and requires cooperative interaction with all hotel areas to ensure guest satisfaction and operational success.
The hotel offers an attractive benefits package that includes vacation, holiday, and sick pay; medical, dental, and vision insurance (with an opt-out option); hotel room discounts; life insurance; accidental death and dismemberment coverage; a 401(k) plan with a 4% match; employee discount programs; education assistance; and voluntary enrollment options for long-term and short-term disability, hospital, critical illness, and accident insurance. Additional perks include commuter programs and branded work shoes to promote comfort and professionalism. Overall, this full-time role offers a rewarding career path within a respected independent franchise providing upscale accommodations and guest services.
