Job Requirements
- must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language used in the workplace
- must be able to read and write to facilitate communication process
- requires good communication skills both verbal and written
- most tasks performed in team environment with employee as team leader
- minimal direct supervision
- knowledge of all hotel departments
- ability to communicate customer needs and resolve complaints
- sales ability and skill in oral and written form
- ability to identify and develop accounts with individual guest room needs
- ability to establish and master goals
- must possess basic computational ability
- must possess computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and Delphi
- must be able to sit at desk up to 5 hours per day
- walking and standing required for remainder of workday including traveling to/from meetings
- must be able to exert well-paced ability to reach other hotel departments timely
- must be able to lift up to 15 lbs occasionally
- requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity
- talking and hearing occur continuously in communication
- vision with near vision and depth perception
- must have finger dexterity to operate office equipment such as computers, printers, 10-key adding machine, electric typewriter, multi-line touch tone phone, filing cabinets, fax machines, photocopiers, dolly and other office equipment
Job Qualifications
- high school diploma or equivalent
- minimum two years hotel business transient sales experience
- bachelor’s degree preferred
- strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- sales ability and skill in oral and written form
- proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Delphi
- ability to communicate customer needs and resolve complaints
- ability to identify and develop accounts with individual guest room needs
- ability to establish and master goals
- basic computational ability
Job Duties
- building and establishing relationships with local transient clients
- respond to leads via proposals for national RFP accounts
- responding to local corporate leads for sleeping rooms and/or food and beverage services
- creating relationships and establishing contracts with F.I.T and wholesale clients
- initiate new sales, prospect and qualify leads and solicit potential clients
- host and entertain clients and maintain client accounts
- conduct property site visits and answer questions
- determine rates, prepare proposals, negotiate contracts and service accounts
- develop sales plans and strategies to meet or exceed revenue and room night goals
- partner with operations departments to ensure full participation in servicing accounts
