The role of Business Engagement and Community Events Manager is designed for a dynamic professional who excels in relationship management, communication, and community networking. This position primarily focuses on cultivating and maintaining solid relationships with both new and existing BBB Accredited Businesses (ABs), guiding them through onboarding processes, and helping them fully leverage the benefits of their Accreditation. The role is integral to enhancing the visibility and value of BBB Accreditation within the local business community. Furthermore, the manager is responsible for developing comprehensive business engagement and onboarding programs, overseeing communication strategies, and tracking performance metrics to align with the organization’s goals.
Additionally, the manager serves as an ambassador for BBB across Central Ohio's 21-county service region. By participating in community events, networking opportunities, and sponsorships, this role aims to expand BBB’s presence and foster partnerships with community leaders, business organizations, chambers of commerce, and economic development groups. The manager also identifies opportunities to engage underserved and outlying markets, ensuring a broad and inclusive approach to community outreach.
Ideal candidates will bring at least three years of relevant experience in communications, business development, community engagement, or related fields, coupled with strong interpersonal and public speaking skills. A bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Business Administration or a related discipline is preferred but equivalent work experience is also considered. Candidates are expected to be highly organized, self-motivated, and capable of managing multiple priorities while working collaboratively across departments. Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and CRM/database systems enhances the candidate’s ability to succeed in this role.
This position also requires regular travel within the 21-county service area (without overnight stays), occasional evening and weekend work to support events, a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and current automobile insurance. Job Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, public relations, business administration, or related field preferred

Job Duties
- Develop and implement an accredited business engagement and onboarding program
- serve as the primary contact for new and existing accredited businesses
- guide businesses through onboarding to maximize accreditation benefits

- respond to inquiries about business profiles and BBB programs
- co-facilitate monthly onboarding sessions
