The role of Business Development Manager (BDM) at Southern Glazer's is a full-time position based in San Diego, CA. This role is responsible for managing and strategically growing the Moet Hennessy business segment through influential leadership and strong commercial acumen. The Business Development Manager plays a critical role in achieving revenue, margin, and gross profit targets as set by the Sales Director, while ensuring sustainable long-term growth for assigned accounts. Successful candidates will be equipped with tools, resources, and support to accelerate Moet Hennessy brand penetration in the market faster than competitors within the allotted account universe.

In this role, the BDM will collaborate closely with sales consultants, area managers, and supplier teams to implement focused programs and initiatives that maximize profitability. The position requires the ability to communicate program spending effectiveness, analyze market trends, and anticipate potential issues by using data-driven insights. Moreover, the Business Development Manager will act as a trusted advisor by continually developing key account relationships, advising customers, and influencing shelf space and menu placements for premium brands. Responsibilities also include organizing on-site promotional events such as product launches, tastings, and dinners, as well as executing account-level activations in collaboration with agencies.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration or related field
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • 3 to 5 years of industry-related sales experience
  • Possess a dependable vehicle, valid driver's license, proof of state registration and insurance, and acceptable driving record
  • Manage and stay within assigned budget
  • Demonstrate strategic, analytical thought process
  • Possess clear understanding of financial acumen
  • Ability to analyze data to anticipate potential issues and proactively model solutions
  • Strong communication, organization and commercial planning capabilities
  • Proficient using Compass, Diver, Excel, and Proof
  • Ability to understand supplier strategies and align with internal and external teams

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or related field

  • Excellent customer service, communication, leadership and interpersonal skills

Job Duties

  • Achieve revenue, margin, and gross profit targets as set by the Sales Director
  • Communicate local program spending effectiveness to maximize company's profits
  • Implement strategies and tactics to achieve category objectives, key performance indicators, and targets
  • Accelerate Moet Hennessy brands quicker than assigned category in allotted accounts
  • Visit assigned account universe regularly
  • Partner with sales consultant and area manager to inform and educate on programs, tools and execution
  • Develop key account relationships and become a trusted advisor
  • Identify market trends and developments to become the category expert within account universe
  • Advise customers and influence shelf space and menu placements
  • Conduct customer staff training on focus categories and brands
  • Create, coordinate, and attend on-site promotional functions such as launches, tastings, and dinners
  • Sell in account level activation working with agency to execute
  • Perform market surveys to document execution
  • Provide recaps of market opportunities and successes
  • Collaborate with trade development and supplier teams to localize tools for programming, activation, education and execution
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned
