The city offers a variety of employment opportunities across multiple departments, including the Sports and Entertainment Department, which plays a crucial role in promoting sporting and entertainment events throughout the region. Employees of the City of Jacksonville enjoy numerous benefits such as paid holidays, personal leave, comprehensive health insurance options including dental, vision, and life insurance, as well as flexible spending plans. The Sports and Entertainment Department is actively seeking a Business Development Coordinator who will work closely with the Chief of Sports and Entertainment. This position is designed for a motivated individual who enjoys coordinating events and contributing to the city’s vibrant sports and entertainment scene. The role primarily involves planning and coordinating various activities, facilitating sporting and entertainment events, and working to attract new events to the city. The Business Development Coordinator will assist in developing and implementing strategic business plans that include business development, administration, marketing, and sales, along with event management support. An essential part of this position includes managing relationships with various partners, volunteers, and vendors by conducting post-event evaluations and follow-up reporting. The Coordinator will also be responsible for creating and executing event contracts, which demands strong negotiation and organizational skills. A highlight of this role includes organizing and managing the annual Georgia-Florida Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony and Luncheon, alongside serving as the liaison and managing the responsibilities of the Hall of Fame inductees during the Georgia-Florida weekend. This event requires a high level of coordination and the ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders.

In addition to event management, the Coordinator manages the sales process for RV City during the Georgia-Florida Weekend and collaborates with business partners on related special events. The position also involves supervising sports interns to assist with the department’s business plan initiatives. This role is ideal for someone passionate about sports and entertainment who excels in multitasking and wants to contribute to the city’s cultural and athletic events.

The City of Jacksonville offers a supportive work environment with a focus on employee well-being and professional development. The position provides a starting salary with attractive benefits, including four weeks off during the first year of employment, which is uncommon in many public sector roles. This opportunity is ideal for candidates with relevant education and experience who are ready to make a significant impact within the city’s sports and entertainment landscape.
