Job Description

Community Transit is a leading public transportation agency committed to providing safe, reliable, and accessible transit services to the communities in the Puget Sound region of Washington State. The agency operates a comprehensive network of bus routes, including regular transit and the Swift bus rapid transit system, serving thousands of riders daily. Community Transit is renowned for its dedication to environmental sustainability, customer service, and inclusivity. With a strong emphasis on safety and professionalism, the agency strives to offer employees a supportive and rewarding workplace enriched with opportunities for growth and development. Community Transit is actively recruiting bus drivers to join its expanding team, offering a full-time employment opportunity with competitive compensation and extensive benefits.

The role of a Community Transit Bus Driver is essential in delivering high-quality transit service to the public. This position involves operating passenger buses along established routes while ensuring the safety and comfort of all riders. Candidates need not have prior professional driving experience, as the agency provides a comprehensive paid training program designed to equip drivers with the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed. This 10-week training program combines theoretical learning with hands-on driving experience, during which trainees earn $31.42 per hour and gain access to generous trainee benefits, including medical, dental, and vision insurance with mostly company-paid premiums, as well as accruing paid time off. Upon successful completion of the training, drivers will earn a starting wage of $33.54 per hour, with opportunities to increase earnings up to $39.31 hourly based on experience and performance.

Beyond attractive pay, Community Transit offers an excellent full-employee benefits package featuring a retirement pension plan, company-paid life and disability insurance, 35 days of paid time off in the first year including state and company holidays, and a comprehensive wellness program providing access to on-site gyms and therapeutic services. This career path is not only financially rewarding but also fosters a healthy work-life balance supported by a positive, tobacco-free, and drug-free work environment. Working as a Community Transit Bus Driver means becoming a valued member of a dedicated team that plays a crucial role in sustaining the region's public transportation infrastructure and enhancing the daily lives of residents through dependable transit options. The position requires a high level of responsibility and adherence to safety protocols, and is subject to drug and alcohol testing under federal and agency regulations. Community Transit strongly encourages diversity and inclusion within its workforce and is an equal opportunity employer. Those interested in making a meaningful impact through their work while earning competitive pay and enjoying valuable benefits are encouraged to apply for this rewarding full-time position.
