The Shuttle-UM Bus Driver position offers an exciting opportunity for an energetic and highly organized individual to join the DOTS team in a vital frontline role. This role involves operating medium and heavy-duty commercial passenger vehicles like cutaway vans and buses ranging from 30 to 40 feet on assigned routes or point-to-point services. The position is focused on providing safe and reliable transportation for students, staff, faculty, and guests, making it vital for maintaining the smooth day-to-day functioning of campus transit.

Reporting to the Transit Operations Manager, the Shuttle-UM Bus Driver will be responsible for conducting necessary pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, maintaining cleanliness, refueling, and securing the vehicles after use. A strong emphasis is placed on passenger safety, courteous service, and adherence to all departmental and regulatory guidelines, including Department of Motor Vehicles regulations and DOTS-specific policies. This role also requires flexibility to work during weekends, early mornings, and night shifts as needed, underscoring the importance of a reliable, service-oriented mindset.

In addition to driving duties, the role involves acting as a representative of the University of Maryland's DOTS by providing exemplary customer service to all riders and maintaining respect for the surrounding campus community. The position pays an hourly rate of $22.79, reflecting its responsibilities and requirements.
