Job Requirements
- Possession of a valid California Commercial Driver's License with Passenger endorsement and good driving record
- possession of current First Aid Certificate within 30 days of hire
- possession of current CPR Certificate within 30 days of hire
- completion of formal or informal education sufficient to read and write
- three years of licensed experience operating motor vehicles
- minimum of one year experience or training in public transportation or completion of City of Clovis Transit Division new driver training program
Job Qualifications
- Knowledge of California Motor Vehicle Code applicable to vehicle operations
- ability to safely operate a public transit vehicle
- ability to communicate effectively with oral and auditory disabled citizens
- ability to carry out oral and written instructions
- ability to maintain effective working relationships
- physical ability to lift, carry, or push 50 pounds regularly
- ability to operate mobile radio for dispatch purposes
Job Duties
- Drive a motor coach on fixed-route and demand-response systems transporting public, elderly, disabled, and special needs citizens
- select effective routes
- meet scheduled departure and arrival times
- provide passenger comfort and safety including fastening safety belts
- perform small errands such as carrying packages, opening and locking doors, and escorting passengers
- assist riders with route and transfer information
- inspect motor coach before operation
- fuel motor coach daily as needed
- operate lift equipment
- operate a mobile radio
- keep vehicles clean and report mechanical defects
- maintain necessary records and reports
- perform minor vehicle maintenance
- receive and dispatch calls for service
- assist with paperwork
- respond appropriately to passenger disabilities and special needs
