The role in question is for a Vehicle Service Attendant. This position is responsible for safely and efficiently managing company and customer vehicles within the service area. The Vehicle Service Attendant is a front-line team member who ensures that vehicles are handled with care from the moment customers arrive and throughout the service process. Although this position does not include leadership responsibilities, it plays a critical role in enhancing customer satisfaction by maintaining the organization and upkeep of the parking lot and loaner vehicle fleet. The attendant is expected to greet customers warmly, direct them accordingly, and support service consultants by managing vehicle logistics.
The role requires performing various duties such as tagging vehicles, installing protective mats and seat covers, parking vehicles safely and orderly, keeping the lot free from debris and snow, maintaining loaner vehicles – washing, fueling, and reporting any repairs needed, performing alignment checks efficiently, and detailing vehicles as necessary. Additionally, the Vehicle Service Attendant supports seamless service department operations by ensuring that vehicles and surrounding areas are clean, organized, and presentable.
This role is ideal for individuals with a high school diploma who possess a valid driver's license and have 1-2 years of experience in customer service-oriented environments, preferably in automotive or related industries. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are critical since the attendant acts as a direct point of contact between the customer and the service team, helping to maintain a positive image of the company. The right candidate should be adaptable, customer-focused, and committed to advocating for teamwork and technological advancements within the dealership or service shop.
The successful candidate will be an ambassador of the brand, demonstrating courteous and professional behavior while assisting customers. Job Duties
- Greet all customers entering the service area and direct customers to service-write up area
- Tag vehicles and install mats and seat covers
- Park all vehicles in appropriate locations
- Maintain organized lot in order to provide easy access for customers
- Remove any debris and snow from the lot
- Maintain loaner vehicles by washing, filling gas tanks and parking in designated area
- Inform management of any mechanical or body repairs needed on loaner vehicles
- Perform alignment checks in the drive through quickly and efficiently
- Provide color alignments print out to the Service Consultants while the customer is still in the Consultants office
- Clean, wash and detail customer vehicles, shop and service drive as needed
