The Bulk Terminal Operator role at CIG Logistics, located in Odessa, TX, is a pivotal position focused on the hands-on operation of terminal equipment and the meticulous handling of bulk commodity logistics. Reporting directly to the Terminal Manager, the operator plays a crucial part in ensuring the smooth reception and shipment of products via bulk trucks and railcars. This role demands a thorough understanding of both bulk truck and rail car operations, paired with administrative responsibilities including accurate terminal reporting and maintenance of inventory and shipment records. Efficient processing of trucks, resolution of customer issues, and assurance of product quality are core to the position's accountability.

Job Requirements

  • Must be able to work in the United States without sponsorship
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must have a valid drivers license
  • Must have the ability to stand for long periods, and must be able to work while sitting, bending, twisting and/or climbing many flights of stairs
  • Must be able to work at heights, in enclosed or confined spaces, near water, work around moving equipment and machinery
  • Must be able to lift up to 100 lbs

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in bulk commodity operations preferred
  • Familiarity with terminal equipment
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Good communication skills
  • Basic computer skills for clerical tasks

Job Duties

  • Comply with all company safety rules and performs all duties in a safe and approved manner
  • Comply with all known Local, State and Federal Laws and Regulations
  • Load bulk unit trucks correctly, providing legal weights and proper product for customer delivery or pick-up
  • Perform routine maintenance on all terminal property and equipment
  • Maintain the terminal in a clean and presentable state
  • Perform clerical functions following the established guidelines for the recording of receipts, shipments and inventory records
  • Refer to the Terminal Manager or customer service on all customer complaints
  • Assists at other Terminal locations as required
  • Responsible for unloading/loading railcars, transferring of product into proper silos/warehouses, sampling and testing of products received and shipped
  • Assist with training of new employees
  • Good mechanical aptitude
  • Knowledge of the safe and proper operation of all terminal equipment, which includes but is not limited to forklifts, mobile conveyors, yard transportation, silos and elevators, crane operation and rigging
  • Perform other duties as assigned
