Job Requirements
- Must be able to access apartments above first floor with or without elevator access
- Must be able to travel to different locations
- Must demonstrate proper cleaning and apartment maintenance methods
- Must be able to lift heavy items such as garbage bags
- Must always wear personal protective equipment when completing assigned tasks
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- At least one year experience as a building porter or related role
- Ability to document proven skills in building maintenance
- Bi-lingual in Spanish and English preferred
- Knowledge of building safety and maintenance systems
- Ability to follow safety protocols and use personal protective equipment
- Strong communication and reporting skills
Job Duties
- Daily cleaning of all common areas including halls
- community rooms
- laundry room
- and bathrooms
- Daily sweeping of front steps, walkways and patios
- Daily control of trash compacter room including replacing trash liners and maintaining system
- Report any conditions threatening safety or requiring repair to Program Director or Building Superintendent
- Ensure code compliance and monitor fire safety and security systems including inspections and vendor coordination in absence of Building Superintendent
- Maintain boiler room systems including testing water pumps and heaters
- Conduct building and apartment inspections, assist with pest control, check plumbing and roofing
- Coordinate maintenance of floor lift and elevator including cleaning and lubrication
