Job Description
This is an exciting opportunity to join a premier hospitality and conference facility known for its luxury accommodations and exceptional guest experiences. The establishment operates two beautifully designed buildings featuring over 100 guest suites, sophisticated conference and training spaces, and high-end finishes that require meticulous care and maintenance. The environment is dynamic, often shifting from low occupancy to fully booked, making it essential to have a calm, adaptable, and responsible professional on board to ensure everything runs smoothly and efficiently. As the building engineer at this top-tier hospitality venue, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the integrity and functionality of the property. Your work will directly impact the comfort and safety of guests and staff, contributing to the facility's reputation as a leader in the hospitality industry.
The role of Building Engineer is geared towards an experienced individual who is passionate about maintaining complex building systems and delivering exceptional customer service. This position is not suited for those seeking a routine, predictable job; rather, it offers the chance to engage in a variety of maintenance tasks that keep the facility’s many systems operating at peak performance. You will be responsible for preventative maintenance and urgent repairs covering HVAC, electrical, plumbing, lighting, generators, fire alarms, and life safety systems, ensuring the building operates flawlessly. In addition to technical skills, the role demands a proactive approach to troubleshooting, the ability to coordinate with outside contractors, and meticulous documentation of work orders and maintenance activities.
Attention to detail is a hallmark of this position. Your commitment to preserving the aesthetic and operational standards expected within a luxury hospitality environment will be evident in how you maintain doors, door hardware, fixtures, and general building components. The organization and cleanliness of mechanical spaces and work areas are also priorities, reflecting the professionalism the facility upholds. This role requires excellent interpersonal skills, as responding promptly and courteously to maintenance requests is essential to supporting a first-class guest experience.
Candidates should have a solid foundation in commercial building maintenance or operating engineering with at least two years of experience. A broad knowledge base covering all major building systems is essential to effectively troubleshoot and maintain this diverse facility. Technical training or certifications, including an EPA Universal Certification or trade school background in HVAC, electrical, or mechanical systems, are valuable assets. Basic computer skills, especially in Microsoft Word and Excel, are necessary for maintaining accurate records.
Working in this role means embracing a dynamic and sometimes fast-paced environment where priorities can shift rapidly. The ideal Building Engineer thrives under these conditions, adapts quickly, and takes ownership of their responsibilities to contribute to a safe, comfortable, and welcoming experience for all facility users. If you take pride in quality workmanship and have the drive to support a prestigious property, this role represents a unique chance to advance your career in a meaningful and rewarding way.
