The Bartender role at Buca di Beppo is pivotal to the guest experience and the restaurant's ongoing success. As a Bartender, you will be responsible for serving guests in a friendly, sincere, and enthusiastic manner, embodying the spirit of Italian hospitality that defines the brand. This role requires not only the skill to prepare and serve high-quality drinks but also the ability to create a warm and inviting atmosphere at the bar. Bartenders are expected to go above and beyond, doing "whatever it takes" to ensure each guest has a vibrant and enjoyable dining experience.
In addition to serving guests, Bartenders at Buca di Beppo work closely with Servers and Wait Assistants to provide efficient service. You will manage multiple tasks including taking and recording drink orders accurately, suggesting appetizers and upselling drinks, maintaining cleanliness and organization of the bar area, and ensuring compliance with safety and sanitation policies. The role demands excellent communication skills, a keen sense of customer focus, and the ability to work harmoniously within a team environment.
Moreover, Bartenders are tasked with responsible alcohol service, ensuring that all customers meet age requirements and intervening when necessary to prevent excessive drinking. The position also requires balancing cash receipts and following strict cash handling procedures. Buca di Beppo offers this role as a full-time or part-time position, suitable for individuals with at least two years of bartending experience in a high-volume, full-service restaurant setting. For internal candidates, a minimum of six months of successful experience as a Server at Buca di Beppo is required before promotion to Bartender. Job Requirements
- at least two years experience as a bartender in a full-service high volume restaurant
- six months successful experience as a server at Buca di Beppo for internal promotion
- ability to perform essential bartending duties including mixing drinks and handling cash
- ability to communicate effectively with guests and team members
- must be able to use all sensory capabilities such as vision, hearing, tasting, smelling, touching, and speaking
- must comply with safety and sanitation standards
- physical ability to clean, stock, and maintain the bar
Job Qualifications
- high school degree or equivalent preferred
- at least two years experience as a bartender in a full-service high volume restaurant
- six months of successful experience as a server at Buca di Beppo required for internal promotion
- strong communication skills
- ability to work well within a team environment

- knowledge of safety and sanitation policies
- ability to handle cash transactions accurately
Job Duties
- Warmly greet and pitch your bar guests in a friendly and sincere manner
- effectively merchandise food and beverages in an informative, friendly, and enthusiastic manner
- check identification of customers to verify age requirements for purchase of alcohol
- pre-bus tables, bar tops, and countertops in the bar area
- wipe tables, countertops and bar tops and seats in the bar area with dampened cloths, and replace dirty tablecloths
- clean up spilled food, drink and broken dishes, and remove empty bottles and trash from the bar area
- reset tables, bar tops, and countertops in bar area according to company specifications and standards
- set tables with clean linens, condiments, and other supplies
- clean and polish counters, shelves, walls, furniture, and equipment in the bar area
- clean up accidental spillage or breakage
- record orders, place accurate orders, and monitor the timing of the guest experience
- ensure quality food and beverages for your guests
- up-sell and suggestive sell at every opportunity
- suggest an appetizer to every guest after receiving their drink order
- prepare high-quality drinks consistently
- mix ingredients, such as liquor, soda, water, sugar, and bitters, to prepare cocktails and other drinks
- slice and pit fruit for garnishing drinks
- work the service bar in a friendly and efficient manner
- ensure that all drink orders have been rung in
- attempt to limit problems and liability related to customers' excessive drinking by taking steps such as persuading customers to stop drinking, or ordering taxis or other transportation for intoxicated patrons
- clean glasses, utensils, and bar equipment
- arrange bottles and glasses to make attractive displays
- present accurate bills, collect a proper payment, and secure payments
- follow all cash handling procedures and policies
- balance cash receipts
- follow the ten points of difference and guest standards of execution as found in the bartender workbook
- anticipate and exceed your guest's expectations
- work as a team and use positive communication skills at every opportunity
- clean, stock, and maintain the bar throughout the shift
