Job Description

Brokedown Palace is a vibrant sports bar located in the heart of Chicago's Wrigleyville neighborhood. The current opening is for the position of Host, an integral role in maintaining the welcoming vibe that Brokedown Palace is known for. Hosts serve as the first point of contact for guests, responsible for greeting everyone warmly, managing waitlists, and ensuring efficient seating arrangements that balance guest preferences with server schedules. This role is crucial for setting the tone of a guest's visit and requires someone who can maintain a positive attitude even during busy shifts and high-pressure situations. The host position at Brokedown Palace is a variable-hour role based in Chicago, offering compensation in the range of $19 to $22 hourly based on experience.

Successful candidates will have strong communication skills, an ability to thrive in fast-paced environments, and the physical stamina to stand and move around for extended periods. Additional responsibilities include answering phone calls, taking reservations, helping resolve guest complaints, and maintaining cleanliness and health standards at the host station. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Ability to provide top notch customer service in a fast-paced environment
  • A positive attitude and ability work well under pressure with all restaurant staff
  • Does high-quality work while unsupervised
  • Able to work in a standing position for long periods of time
  • Able to safely lift and easily maneuver trays of food when necessary
  • Willing to follow instructions and ask questions for clarification if needed
  • Able to handle money accurately and operate a point-of-sale system
  • Able to work in a busy restaurant environment

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Greet guests as they enter with energetic and positive attitude
  • Create and maintain wait list if necessary
  • Effective use of OpenTable
  • Provide guests with menus and answering any initial questions
  • Seat guests at tables or in designated waiting areas
  • Assign guests to tables they prefer while keeping table rotation in mind
  • Respond to complaints and help resolve them or get a manager involved
