GPI is currently seeking highly qualified Bridge Coatings and Coatings Inspectors to join their teams across various projects in North Carolina. These roles involve critical oversight of bridge coatings and inspection tasks and require a professional who is well-versed in detailed inspection protocols and quality control measures. Ideal candidates will have experience working within transportation departments or on municipal projects, with additional experience in metalizing or shop inspection considered an advantage. The selected candidates will play a crucial role in monitoring the application of coatings, ensuring compliance with industry standards and project specifications, as well as managing waste and traffic control on site. Work is anticipated to begin in the spring and summer of 2026, highlighting the firm’s commitment to long-term project planning and strategic resource deployment.

This position demands diligence in reviewing contractor submittals, procedures, and hazardous waste management plans, with an emphasis on maintaining safety standards and providing comprehensive documentation. Responsibilities include preparing detailed daily and weekly inspection reports concerning work conditions, progress updates, weather impacts, and the acceptability of work performed. Inspectors will have the opportunity to work across multiple job sites and may occasionally be assigned night shifts, demonstrating GPI’s flexible and dynamic work schedule. Candidates must possess relevant certifications, including AMPP Coatings Inspector credentials at a minimum of Level CIP 1 Basic Coatings Inspector, supported by at least one year of practical experience inspecting bridge coating projects. Preferred certifications include SSPC Bridge Coating Inspector (BCI), SSPC C3 Supervisor, and Competent Person Training for Deleading of Industrial Structures, all of which reflect the industry’s stringent requirements for safety and technical competence.

  • Must hold AMPP coatings inspector Level CIP 1 basic coatings inspector certification
  • At least 1 year of experience inspecting bridge coating projects
  • Ability to travel to multiple job sites
  • Willingness to work occasional night shifts

  • Ability to prepare detailed inspection reports
