The Host role at NW Hospitality Group is a vital front-of-house position designed to create and maintain a warm, professional, and inviting atmosphere in alignment with the company’s standards. The role primarily involves managing guest reservations, waitlists, and phone communications, all conducted with courtesy and a helpful disposition. A Host acts as the initial point of contact for guests, ensuring that their experience from arrival to seating is seamless and welcoming. This position requires a confident and attentive individual who can greet guests warmly, manage the flow of service efficiently, and provide knowledgeable information about the menu and services offered.

The Host is also responsible for upholding the highest grooming standards and ensuring that the restaurant’s ambiance is maintained at all times, including lighting, music, and decor. In addition, the role includes handling to-go and online orders with 100 percent accuracy in transactions and packaging, managing guest information through reservation software, and serving as the communication hub within the restaurant by relaying messages between guests, servers, and management. The Host must also vigilantly assess dining room flow and wait times and assist servers when necessary.

No prior restaurant experience is required for this entry-level position, but exceptional grooming standards and the ability to stand for long periods are essential. Flexibility in scheduling is offered with both part-time and full-time opportunities available, along with closed holidays for major observances. Full-time employees working 30 hours or more per week benefit from health care packages that include dental and vision coverage. Job Duties

  • maintain utmost grooming and wardrobe presentation as the first impression establishing the standard for the front of house
  • maintain a clean and ambient restaurant with specific attention to lighting music curtains shades flowers and candles
  • walk through dining room prior to service ensuring the mise en place is completed
  • warmly and confidently greet guests as they enter giving full attention
  • open the front door for guests entering or leaving the restaurant whenever possible
  • answer phones using proper phone etiquette maintaining a calm and positive demeanor
  • answer questions about the restaurant provide directions explain menu items and find answers for guests
  • demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of menu including daily specials
  • take to-go orders and complete them with 100 percent accuracy including payment packing and providing utensils
  • manage online orders carefully checking each before accepting
  • remember and learn names of return guests tracking information in reservation software
  • assess flow of service and time tables accordingly
  • manage waitlist when immediate seating is limited quoting approximate wait times
  • offer guests a menu and water upon seating and inform them of their server's name
  • relay messages to servers and bus persons serving as the communication hub
  • ensure all tables receive prompt and accurate service alerting manager on duty when needed
  • occasionally assist servers with orders delivery and clearing tables
  • thank guests with genuine appreciation inviting them to return
  • gauge level of satisfaction recording feedback and relaying it to the manager
  • attend stock and straighten restroom facilities throughout shift
  • complete any other tasks or directives issued by manager politely timely and accurately
