Job Description
Koelsch Communities is a leading provider of senior living and care services dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for residents through compassionate and attentive service. Their commitment to creating a warm, welcoming environment means they invest heavily in recruiting individuals who are not only skilled but also empathetic and community-oriented. The organization places emphasis on providing high-quality nutrition and outstanding hospitality to enrich the daily experiences of their residents. They offer diverse opportunities for professional growth within a culture that values respect, integrity, and teamwork. Koelsch Communities prides itself on maintaining high standards in both service delivery and employee satisfaction, ensuring that every member feels valued and empowered to contribute to the community's success.
The Breakfast Cook role at Koelsch Communities is essential in delivering nutritious, attractive, and tasty morning meals that meet the dietary needs and preferences of the resident community. This 100% on-site position focuses primarily on preparing breakfast items such as fruits, breads, cereals, and bakery goods while adhering rigorously to food safety and sanitation policies. The role involves setting up dining areas, maintaining food rotation and proper storage, and ensuring meals are served at the correct temperature according to set schedules. Additionally, the Breakfast Cook will interact courteously with residents and visitors, responding promptly to food preparation questions while also assisting with beverage refills and dish clearing as needed. This position requires a blend of culinary skill, attention to detail, and a friendly disposition to create an enjoyable dining experience for residents.
Beyond food preparation, an important aspect of this role includes maintaining a clean and safe environment that complies with health regulations and the community’s policies. The cook is responsible for identifying and correcting menu errors and preparing special limited diets as ordered by physicians, reflecting the community's holistic approach to resident wellness. The ability to communicate effectively, remain flexible in a fast-paced environment, and uphold professional standards of hygiene, dress, and conduct is critical. Koelsch Communities also values candidates who demonstrate leadership qualities in adaptability, teamwork, and initiative without direct supervisory responsibilities. To ensure the highest quality of service and safety, candidates must have passed a food handler’s or ServSafe certification in compliance with county and state regulations.
The position demands physical stamina, including standing for extended periods, walking, and handling weights up to 50 pounds. The role also involves the use of various kitchen equipment assigned by the culinary department supervisor. Candidates are expected to maintain a clean black and white uniform, including a provided chef coat and head covering, and adhere to the dress code of the community. Koelsch Communities fosters an environment of continuous improvement and education, requiring attendance at in-services and workshops, encouraging employees to develop their skills further and stay current with community requirements. This role suits individuals with an upbeat, professional attitude who thrive in a supportive and fast-moving setting, ready to make a positive impact each morning through exceptional breakfast service.
