Salt + Marrow Kitchen, located within Crowne Plaza North Augusta, is a prominent dining establishment that marries sophisticated culinary techniques with warm Southern hospitality. It operates within the Crowne Plaza hotel, a well-regarded full-service hotel chain known for accommodating both business travelers and vacationing guests. Salt + Marrow Kitchen is currently seeking a dependable, energetic, and detail-oriented Breakfast Cook to join its culinary team. This is a critical position focusing on the preparation and execution of breakfast menu items with adherence to established recipes, presentation standards, and rigorous food safety guidelines. The Breakfast Cook will work in a high-paced hospitality setting, responsible not only for cooking but also for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and ensuring smooth and timely service during busy breakfast hours. This role requires someone who brings a strong sense of urgency and professionalism, capable of multitasking and collaborating efficiently within a team. Experience in breakfast preparation, restaurant or hotel culinary operations, and a sound understanding of kitchen organization and food safety are preferred.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior experience as a cook in a restaurant, hotel, or similar culinary environment preferred
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
  • Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Flexibility to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team
  • Food handler's permit or certification if required by jurisdiction

Job Qualifications

  • Previous cooking experience in a restaurant or commercial kitchen preferred
  • Understanding of basic cooking techniques and kitchen equipment
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management
  • Ability to follow recipes and take direction

  • Physical stamina for standing, lifting, and working in a hot kitchen for extended periods

  • Availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays is essential

Job Duties

  • Prepare and cook menu items according to standard recipes, portion sizes, and presentation guidelines
  • Set up and stock stations with all necessary ingredients and equipment
  • Ensure food is cooked and held at proper temperatures and follows food safety regulations
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, including workstations, equipment, and storage areas
  • Assist with receiving deliveries and storing food and supplies properly
  • Follow all sanitation and food handling procedures, including proper labeling and rotation (FIFO)
  • Work efficiently under pressure during high-volume service periods
  • Assist with prep work, cleaning duties, and other kitchen tasks as assigned
  • Communicate effectively with kitchen staff and front-of-house team for smooth service flow
  • Always maintain soap and sanitation buckets at each station
  • Open the kitchen and close the kitchen in the absence of supervisors
  • Adhere to all prepared written recipes for all menu items
  • Report out-of-stock items to the supervisor
  • Prepare all sauces and all dishes for breakfast, dinner menus per SOP and recipe standards
  • Help set up the restaurant and employee cafeteria buffet as applicable
  • Prepare all menu and featured items under the Executive Chef's direction
  • Perform the duties of the Prep List schedule
  • Assist with banquet preparation
