The position available is that of a Breakfast Cook within the Market Grille department. This is a non-exempt role that focuses on providing prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service by preparing various breakfast foods aligned with Hy-Vee’s high standards. The Breakfast Cook plays a critical role in food preparation, ensuring all hot and cold foods, including heat-and-eat varieties, are made with care and consistency according to the established recipes and restaurant specifications. This position requires a passion for food preparation and customer interaction, engaging with customers to create positive dining experiences. The hourly wage for this role ranges from $14.00 to $17.50, depending on experience, and includes access to Hy-Vee’s comprehensive benefits program.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Six months or less of similar or related work experience
- Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally
- Ability to perform physical activities such as climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions
- Ability to understand and follow instructions
- Ability to do simple math
- Ability to maintain personal hygiene and follow dress guidelines
Job Qualifications

- Six months or less of related work experience
- Ability to solve practical problems
- Ability to perform simple addition and subtraction
- Ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions

Job Duties
- Provides prompt, efficient and friendly customer service
- Smiles and greets customers in a friendly manner
- Makes an effort to learn customers' names and address them by name
- Assists customers by escorting them to products, securing products, loading/unloading items, noting customer requests
- Answers the telephone promptly and provides helpful service
- Works as a team to ensure customer satisfaction
- Prepares cooking surfaces and various breakfast foods
- Places food in hot cases and monitors/refills as necessary
- Prepares items for upcoming shifts
- Practices sanitation procedures and maintains cleanliness
- Maintains adherence to hygiene and dress guidelines
- Adheres to company policies and reports to work on time
- Knowledgeable of menu items and able to take guest orders
