Job Description

ESS Support Services is a premier provider of comprehensive support services specializing in food and facility maintenance for clients in challenging and remote environments, including offshore and land-based sites. Headquartered in Anchorage, Alaska, our company is renowned for delivering exceptional hospitality and culinary services under demanding conditions. Our operations run around the clock, 365 days a year, ensuring that resident workers in mining camps and remote sites receive consistent, high-quality food service and facility maintenance support. The Anchorage location, particularly the ESS Support Services Mining Camps based at 201 Post Road, is actively hiring dedicated full-time Bakers to join our committed culinary team. This role is central to our mission to provide excellent food service in mining camp settings, ensuring that every baked item meets our high standards for quality and consistency. This position offers a competitive hourly pay rate ranging from $20.00 to $23.00 per hour and requires employees to hold experience in baking as well as a current Food Worker Card. Candidates must be prepared to work varied day schedules to meet daily production demands, with more details provided during the interview process.

In this role, Bakers will be responsible for preparing a wide array of baked goods including breads, pies, cakes, cookies, and other pastries according to standardized recipes and catering orders. The job emphasizes precise execution of baking techniques and adherence to production specifications to maintain the superior quality for which ESS Support Services is known. Beyond baking, employees will assist in production planning, ensuring that daily baking goals are met efficiently. The role also involves maintaining thorough documentation related to production, such as waste tracking and inventory management, and requires constant communication with supervisors regarding supply levels and any production anomalies. Bakers are expected to uphold stringent food safety and sanitation standards, including correct handling and storage of food items, cleanliness of equipment, and adherence to corporate and OSHA regulations. Job Duties

  • Bake breads, pies, cakes, cookies and other pastries as necessary per the provided production and catering sheets
  • assists in production planning to meet daily requirements
  • ensures proper food preparation by utilizing approved recipes, following prescribed production standards and use of proper equipment
  • assists with the completion of production records to include waste tracking, used/unused portions and product shortages
  • informs supervisor when supplies are low
  • ensures proper presentation, food quality, portion control and maintenance of proper serving temperatures
  • maintains sanitation and orderliness of all equipment, supplies and utensils within work area
  • handles food items appropriately and with all safety regulations in mind during preparation and service
  • cleans equipment and workstation thoroughly before leaving the area for other assignments
  • keeps display equipment clean and free of debris
  • interacts with customers and resolves customer complaints in a friendly and customer-service oriented manner
  • relays relevant concerns from customers directly to supervisors
  • consistently exhibits the ability to keep up with peak production and service calmly, accurately and efficiently
  • checks to ensure that all food is presented, served and displayed per standards
  • follows principles of sanitation and safety in handling food and equipment, ensuring corporate and OSHA safety standards are followed
