The Complimentary AM/PM Host/Hostess position is a vital role within the hospitality industry, specifically within hotel operations. This establishment is committed to providing an exceptional guest experience, and as such, the role involves preparing and serving the daily complimentary breakfast to hotel guests while strictly adhering to food safety regulations. Typically employed in a hotel environment, this position is fundamental in ensuring that guests start their day with a satisfying and pleasant dining experience. The AM/PM Host/Hostess is the first point of contact during the breakfast service, responsible for delivering personalized and attentive service that elevates guest satisfaction.
This role is suited for individuals who thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and are passionate about food service and guest relations. The successful candidate will engage guests with a warm, friendly demeanor, responding swiftly to their requests while maintaining professionalism and composure. Beyond just serving food, this position requires meticulous attention to detail with regards to food preparation, inventory management, order placement for food supplies, and maintaining cleanliness and safety standards. The host/hostess must be vigilant in monitoring food and beverage stations, ensuring that all items are adequately stocked and replenished in anticipation of guest needs.
In addition to daily operational duties, this role demands compliance with federal, state, and local food safety regulations to guarantee a safe dining environment for all guests. The candidate must be capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously, from food preparation, such as cutting fruit and preparing beverages, to cleaning duties including clearing tables and sanitizing serving equipment. Physical stamina is required as the role involves standing for extended periods and handling up to 45 pounds during duties.
The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent and at least three months of related experience, although equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered. Effective communication skills are crucial to coordinate with management, coworkers, vendors, and guests to ensure smooth operation of the breakfast service. Experience in food service enhances candidates’ fit for the role but is not mandatory.
It is important that the host/hostess embodies hospitality values, maintaining polite and professional communication at all times. Working conditions include exposure to heat, water, and cleaning solvents, and the role necessitates adherence to established safety procedures while collaborating closely with team members. Flexibility is also essential, as working mornings, weekends, and holidays may be required to meet operational demands.
This role does not carry supervisory responsibilities but requires responsibility for various equipment, including dishwashers, ovens, knives, refrigerators, and warming units. As an essential team member in the hotel’s food service, the host/hostess will contribute significantly to the overall guest experience by delivering courteous, efficient, and high-quality service. This comprehensive role offers a dynamic and rewarding opportunity for those interested in hospitality and food service, providing valuable experience within a professional hotel environment.
