Job Description

Dozen is a well-established bakery rooted firmly in Nashville, known for its commitment to exceptional quality and unwavering integrity. As a cornerstone of the community, Dozen takes pride in its unique approach to baking, blending traditional craftsmanship with a contemporary spirit. The company is committed to valuing its work and the people involved in every step of the process, creating a welcoming and inclusive environment where employees are empowered to bring their unique selves to work. This dedication not only reflects in the exceptional quality of their bread and baked goods but also in their compassionate and respectful workplace culture.

Dozen is currently seeking a full-time Bread Baker to join their dedicated bread team. This role is critical to maintaining the high standards and quality that the bakery is known for, involving hands-on involvement in all aspects of bread production. Bread baking at Dozen encompasses scaling, mixing, shaping, baking, and cleaning — all essential functions that ensure timely delivery of fresh, high-quality bread to both retail and wholesale customers. The Bread Baker will also support seasonal menu changes and new product development, working closely with leadership to maintain stock levels and production efficiency.

This full-time position requires a commitment to a weekly schedule of five eight-hour shifts, with start times beginning early in the morning between 4 AM and 6 AM to meet production demands. The role also includes weekend shifts to support the bakery's operating hours. Compensation for the position starts at $18.25 per hour and includes a tip share. Candidates with relevant prior experience in bread baking or culinary arts may be eligible for higher pay.

The Bread Baker must be physically capable of performing the duties which involve constant standing, frequent walking and bending, and lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds without assistance. Basic math skills are also necessary to handle recipe scaling and ingredient measurement accurately. Dozen emphasizes adherence to food safety regulations and best practices, ensuring all bread meets company standards for quality and appearance. The role requires a passion for baking, attention to detail, and a desire to continuously improve personal performance and product quality.

At Dozen, diversity, equity, and inclusion are key values. Employment opportunities are provided without regard to race, color, ancestry, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, marital status, religion, age, disability, gender identity, or military service. The Bread Baker is expected to contribute to maintaining a positive, respectful, and collaborative workplace by demonstrating empathy, clear communication, emotional intelligence, and personal accountability. Team collaboration is also essential to this role, with responsibilities that include assisting in training new employees and participating in team meetings to improve the bread department's workflows and celebrate successes.

This position offers a supportive environment where passion for baking is not only valued but essential. Employees benefit from a range of company-provided benefits including paid time off, 401(k) with employer matching, and medical, dental, and vision insurance, reflecting Dozen's commitment to employee well-being and satisfaction. Joining Dozen as a Bread Baker means becoming part of a community-focused company that values quality, integrity, and continuous learning in the art of baking.
